Small Florist's Walls door is HUGE!

I'm absolutely in love with the new Florist's Walls, but the door is MASSIVE and the outside windows seem way too high. My max-height male Elezen feels like a little kid next to the door, and Lalafell don't even make it up to the door handle!

Do you think this is intentional? I think the door could be scaled down and still look just fine from both sides -- it might even look better scaled down on the inside, since the doorframe would no longer clip into the pillars on either side.

    Inside (Elezen for scale):

It seems like they probably designed the house in isolation so it looks appealing as an object in itself, rather than checking it against character models for scale.

Looks like someone did compromise when making the wreath into the door. If it was smaller, the wreath would be hidden inside the "enter" ball effect. And it would make the wreath look too big if the door was smaller (but wreath at same size).

Does it make sense? I mean sure.. maybe.

    Is it silly? Yeah.

Could I have more images of the house by the way? I want it but theres very little images of it so far

edit: heres one at least https://twitter.com/rurucaruca/status/1336270410153750528/photo/1

I'd honestly suggest visiting houses that use the skin over just looking at screenshots. At least on the medium, those flower beds take up a significant portion of the yard space but you wouldn't catch that from a screenshot unless it was at the correct angle. For all that it's a really pretty skin, I'm considering going back to using the Half-timbered skin instead.

Here are some images of my medium.

Furnishings mostly removed (just 2 Deluxe Garden Patches and the Miniature Aetheryte left).

    Some furnishings placed.

Same furnishing placement but skin switched to Half-Timbered.

You can see how much room it takes up. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Players frequently complain about how the small item limits don't fill up the space we have available in our yards. But reducing the available yard space also cuts down on how creative we can get with our furnishings. I tried putting in a single large garden pond and it felt like it overwhelmed the space while I've used 3-4 large garden ponds with other skins quite effectively.

Edit: just in case anyone missed it, the skin is not currently dyeable. It is a known issue that SE is working on.

I agree, it looks really nice as a whole but as soon as you stand next to it you feel tiny! I asked my Lalafriend if this is what he feels like all the time.

Sure! I do agree with Jojoya, it's best to look at it in person (I'm in Lavender Beds W12 P32 on Mateus - Crystal if anyone wants to stop by and take a look) -- but here are some screenshots! Sorry for all the shadows, there's a big tree right next to my plot.

    Outside, night:

Porch, night -- like Jojoya said, this sticks out quite a bit further than the front of the house, taking up lawn space; but the house is also narrower than the standard houses, freeing up space on the side:

    Roof detail, day:

    Interior door & window, day:

As with other custom facades, you can't change the fence or add any extras like awnings or weathervanes:

There's currently a bug where it's undyeable as well, but once it's fixed I expect either the white or the mint-green to be dyeable. Overall it's a very cute house with some odd design choices!

    EDIT:
Here's a comparison of the Small Florist's Walls vs. Oasis Cottage Wall (Wood) with Riviera Cottage Roof (Wood). Both screenshots are taken without moving the camera so you can see the difference in dimensions -- the porch on the Florist's Walls take up a significant portion of lawn space.

I feel that architecture in third-person computer games is just large in general. I think this is because the camera is usually floating significantly above the character's head, and having the camera brush the ceiling of a normal-sized room would make it feel small. Another thing may be relatively coarse collision boxes and characters defaulting to running. You need to have ample space between furniture, and then you have to increase the room size or you can't fit a normal-looking amount of furniture in there.

    Very true.

Proportionally, the handle of the door is in roughly the right place if it was a real life door. If you look at it from a distance, nothing seems out of place. It's just when our characters stand next to it that the scale problem becomes apparent. I think that's why most doors on houses tend to be double doors. It removes part of the scale issue since the each door is only half the space width. We're used to doors being much taller when double and not when they're single.

I think there's definitely an illusion of size in videogames - not necessarily for doors and things where you know what height they should be relative to a person, but for things like monsters I tend to think they're smaller than they actually are if you put your character next to them and actually look at the size of them.

I figure it's a disconnect of perspective and you interpret the size of things relative to where you're viewing them from, which is a few metres back from where your character is standing.
