    IMO the new gathering collectible system is worst

    First the system.
    Previously to gather collectible you had to optimise your state, find and optimise a rotation, had a little bit of luck for some proc’s

    Now, you press on a button and let rngesus decide if you’re worth. And add to that some luck for the reduction.

    And with all this, even with the dedicated nodes, the amount of collectible per minute you gather is lower than previously.

    You know how to satisfy incompetent people? You lock reward behind luck instead of locking it behind skill. So if they fail, they blame the game and if they succeed they congratulate them self for being competent. This is exactly what is happening here, SE rewards people who don’t put the effort in.

    Second the UI.
    Why the hell is the final action (the collect button) a small button in the middle of the window? And why is the “use my GP” button in a big frame at the bottom of the windows. How many time did you click on the “use my GP” button instead of the collect button?


    Thanks for reading my rant…. Maybe I will get use to it, but gosh…. SE I know you need to attract all kind of player to make money, but please find another way than taking the accomplishement satisfaction out of the game. I want to be rewarded because I’m good, not because I’m lucky. And this does not only apply to gathering but to all the mechanism being slowly changed from skill based to luck based. Thanks.

    Your luck was determining your result before just as much as it is now. Even worse, the RNG was taking place both before and after you started collecting. Now it's only happening before you collect.

    There's room to optimize your stats here if you take the time to experiment. Look at the difference between an unmelded NQ ilvl 430 set and a pentamelded Aesthete set before you even begin using actions:

    I can use a rotation of Meticulous+Scrutiny x2, plus a Meticulous finisher if needed and get 1000 rating with 2-4 guaranteed collection chances. The same rotation using the unmelded NQ set gets 500-700 rating, usually only 1 collection attempt and that collection attempt frequently fails (I didn't take a lot of samples but I lost 2 out of 9 attempts, in line with the 74% collection chance listed).

    There's certainly room for optimization. If I can go to a HW ephemeral node using the Aesthete set, the listed effectiveness of Scour and chance for Meticulous proc do not change. There's some point where adding more Gathering becomes a wasted stat and using more Perception would be more beneficial. What's that point? I don't know. I'm not building a second set for collectable gathering because i only do it when I need more Aethersand. There's something for you to play with for optimization.

    I doubt anyone is congratulating themselves over anything here. Everything is still highly gear dependent. The number of aethersands being produced even at max rating is much less than it used to be at 6/8 Purity.

    I agree the UI layout can use improvement. It makes no sense to have Collect next to the basic actions with Scrutiny listed below it. Scrutiny is something is used with the other actions so should be located next to them with Collect located at the bottom. But if you're fumble fingering Scrutiny when you want to Collect, that's you being sloppy. There's enough separation between the two that you shouldn't be hitting the wrong one by accident.

    The macro to guarantee max collectability is stupid easy and can be found on Youtube. This is by far the most simple system they have done in Shadowbringers. I got the full ilvl 500 set in less then 6 hours of doing mining because of how brain dead it is now.

    Its stupid easy now.

    There is less RNG. There is less reliance on BiS gear*. You use fewer GPs.

    While you can get just 1 aethersand from reducing a max collectable item you no longer can get 0.

    *Stats main: G 2691, P 2648. Alt: G 2357, P 2256. Both use the same rotations.
