What's the best way to join a free company?

The title says it all, but I'll say a bit more.

I joined FF14 from WoW a while back, and I'm now caught up to current content. I'd love to find a good group to game with, get into savage content, etc., but it's still not clear to me how to go about joining an FC in this game.

In WoW, it's not uncommon for guilds to advertise in general chat of cities. The guild with which I raided in BFA I found from a general chat add, and I lucked out in that they were a good group that raided at times that worked for me.

However, there is no general chat in FF14. I've tried posting on server forums, joining recruitment fellowships, etc., but no dice.

MMOs are more fun with a good group, and I'd like to get into progression content. What's the way to go about it in FF14?

The Dev team just introduced a new feature within the last patch or two called Community Finder. You can use this feature on the Lodestone to not only join a Free Company of your liking but to also search for Linkshells that may interest you.

Otherwise, there is a shout feature in game. If you AFK for a bit in high traffic zones like Limsa Lominsa, you're bound to find that there is a FC or two that are recruiting.

But yeah I do find that very useful. The Community Finder thing.
You can find other groups there too, not just Free Companies. You can find your potential static there too (if seperate from FC that is)
