Thread: Help me guess 6.0 derplander job!

I hope for summoner just because that would make for some pretty amazing cinematics summoning bahamut, phoenix or another big summon if we are going to get one in 6.0. But I am not holding my breath. Machinist seems the most likely out of the current jobs.

I feel it really boils down to 2 things: where are we going (so it will fit the theme) and what SE thinks will excite/increase sales.

I think we are probably going to Sharlayan with what hints I can gather, and/or parts of Garlemald.

So it makes sense to be a mage job like Rdm, Sch or Smn, but I wouldn’t rule out whatever “new” job is introduced either.

As much as I personally like mages though, I think the traditional rpg-main-hero look would be a more popular,.but then again who knows!

I wouldn't say that Garlean expansion = Gunbreaker poster job, because these two don't have any close connection. Garleans use far greater gunblades than the player is able to use.

And I wouldn't bet on MCH. Poster job is supposed to encourage new people to play the game, and a Gunner that can't even shoot bullets, but only release heat blasts while doing backflips will work like anti-advertising.

You mean a Gunner that does shoot bullets and also has a Flamethrower, Bioblaster and a Mecha companion.

Ishgard for Dragoon, Ala Mhigo's got monks, Far East has samurai and Norvrandt doesn't have a signature class associated with it but, y'know, "Warrior of Darkness" is a perfect fit for Dark Knight. That being said, all of these classes have also been physical. I doubt he'd pick up spellcraft any time soon. He also has, as mentioned, Warrior and Bard already under the belt.

It is quite a difficult question to answer. Shadowbringers highly subverted our expectations on anything. My guess on Scholar kind of rests on the fact that all of the Scions in the party are intellectuals who have written an academic thesis. The Main Character (Derplander if you will) is still something of a bumpkin in comparison. Sharlayan is the perfect place for him to commit to more serious study. And with the cure to tempering being distributed (wow a vaccine...), as well as being active on the Bozjan front (Field tactician vibes). As much bitching as we have done over Healers, the direction of Scholar makes a lot of sense to me.

There is also the factor of Lunar Bahamut and likely other primals coming back to a plague us as their dark versions.

I should say that should my guess of Scholar be derplander’s new job, in theory he will also have leveled Summoner.

It could be Island out lands in this expansion, Such as Thavnair, or the land of the Whalaquee. It’s hard to say- but those are my rather scattered thoughts on the matter.

It's half-joking, but there is precedent for learning to gunblade from Garlemald. Thancred canonically picked up his skills there, but because he can't infuse the cartridges himself, couldn't take full advantage of the art until Ryne happened.

I think Machinist or Bard. But if we finally get Derplander into a magic class then... Summoner or Red Mage.
