Beginner's Guide for New or Returning Players

    Hey folks!

I decided to make a beginner's guide after getting back into the game myself again after quite a long break, as a bunch of folks in my discord were wondering about a lot of basic things.

Was figuring this would also be helpful to anyone here that may have some basic questions on how to get up and running and some "best practices" to get into.

    Hope this helps!

    -Picking a job-

Doesn't give the player an impression of what the classes play like late game.
Doesn't burden a new player with lists of stats and numbers.
Goes: you can level everything and change whenever. It literally doesn't matter. Pick what looks fun and go for it lol.

    Hahahaha I like your style

But yeah, this is a real good new player guide. Not just because you're giving them a lot of helpful info, but because it's a dense video that delivers the info at a very even pace so it's easy to follow.

If I had anything constructive to add it'd be to make sure you let players know how/where to get some of the things you're talking about (like the hunters log).

    Nice guide yo~

    Really appreciate the feedback!

And yeah, I think for me it was a bit of a personal relief I wanted to give others when it comes to character creation.

I'm the type of MMO player that will spend hours just staring at the character creation screen thinking of what the ideal race and class is, what my name will be...what will the end game look like based on the choices I made...

...in FFXIV, letting people know "everything's going to be just fine, you can change literally anything you want as you go" will hopefully ease people's minds and allow them to just hit "create" and get moving in the game.

I agree on your call out about being more specific on how to get certain things (like I casually mention the Duty Roulettes as well and don't really say how you get access to them), but I was erring on the side of "less is more" for this one.

I probably strayed a bit too close to that line and didn't as specific as I could have in those spots,. I'll keep that in mind for the next one!

Hey thanks, just watched this and enjoyed it. Wish I had watched it sooner, but mostly I appreciate the permission to just not stress about a number of things (like using the auto-equip). I will say, it's going to be tough to not keep doing all those basic quests though... I just like helping everyone in an area out.

One question if I may: does the difficulty of basic quests scale at all to your level? I feel like they are so easy now and I'm worried they'll just become ridiculously easy if I put them off until later. Thanks!

The vast majority of quests do not scale to your level. The few that do scale generally say so in their description.
Should you leave some quests undone you can always go back and do them while leveling your second/third/ninth class/job, thus getting to do the quests on-level while also getting some XP for that class/job.

Thanks MistakeNot! I hadn't considered the value of leaving them for future leveling of an additional class or job. Makes a lot of sense (and gives me some peace that these people will eventually get the help they need :-) ).
