Thread: Help Me Guess 6.0 Release Date :)

Hi All,

So we are picking vacation for 2021 where I work. Due to how we select, seniority-based, I end up being at the bottom of the list. Also, we have limits on how many we can have off on any given day. What all this means is I pretty much need to guess when 6.0 might drop if I want some time off for an expansion binge, because by the time it is officially announced it will be pretty hard if not impossible to get some time off.

That being said, give me your best guess when you think it might come out!

I'm guessing 8/31. Expansions have been dropping end of June/beginning of July and it feels like they are about two months behind. But I could be wrong about that, so I'm trying to crowd source this.

Add 2 months to end of June-mid July(This has been typical expansion drop) due to Covid 2 month delay, and you get late August-mid September.

I'd go with mid-September to be on safe side and go out on a limb and say expansion will be 14th September 2021 as my guess.

Naw I think thats a bit too soon. Maybe 28th September. But hey thats just my guess.

August 18th.

There is no 6.0, they are making FFXIV-2, a single player game in which after the warrior of light gruesome death, most of the scions got killed, surviving GAIA, RYNE and Y'SHTOLA form a popular singing group to continue their adventure.

If we add 2 months it should be August, but expect more delays between patches so mid-September would be my guess. I'm feeling a bit negative as of late, so I wouldn't be surprised if we had to wait until October.
Personally, I would prefer them to cut the time we have to wait during the content drought between the last patch, when people usually complain, and the release, but I guess they will be hard at work by then so...

Given that SE haven't even officially announced the next expansion yet, which is usually done at one of the Fanfests around October, and that the expansion launch date is usually about 8 months after, I'm not expecting 6.0 to launch til at least September/October next year (not to mention that Japan has a much more important global cultural event planned for July/August next year that SE probably are keen to avoid clashing with), and with the pandemic continuing to wreck havoc on development, it's unlikely that we'll see anything about it for a long time sadly.

I want nothing more than to be proven wrong though.

It depends on if they have been able to or will be able to make up any of that time. We normally have that last stretch between the X.5 patch and the next expansion drag on pretty long. Also, if COVID flares up again in Japan, it's possible things get delated even further.

But assuming neither of those things are true, if we consider that the expansions typically launch in early July, and that we had a 2-3 month delay between patches, I would expect September or early October at the latest.
