Request: I don't want to solo the main scenario

Wow, you must be really lucky then. Because TBH, it took me 3 days of begging LS members and random people in XI to help me get all my summons. Then it took me an additional 3 days of pulling random people together to get Fenrir. Then I remember working on my Summoner AF for almost 2 weeks because everyone was either busy in my ls, didn't show, of no one answered shouts hardly. And it wasn't that I needed people to hold my hand to get my summoner AF. I did the research on what was needed, we just needed the man power to help with some of the drops, same with the carbie mitts, needed the man power to help, not hand holding. Ugly temple tonberries are no joke to a squishy mage type.

It should not be that difficult to enjoy a video game. That was XI at the time. That is fine. However, most people, including myself have aged 10 years...lives change...many of us don't have that same sort of time to invest into seeing a main scenario of a video game. Some may, which is fine, however, many people are only interested in seeing main scenario, not doing raids, working to get best gear, etc. Simply in it for the story...K

Again, to just toss those players aside, to cater to one type of play style is crazy. There really needs to be a middle ground.

I don't believe Duelle is a lazy player. It's just craziness to have to wait so long to progress through what many consider a hobby and not a second life. Again video game = down time from RL, a way to unwind for many. I don't know many gamers who find it fun to spend 2 weeks trying to get help with AF. Those gamers are a very "rare" breed...

Sounds like a rather extensive case of you not giving a damn about getting rank 10. I got my Sandy Flag, Windy Flag, and Bastok Flag all hanging up in my Mog House when PUP was my only 75.

No I didn't have someone drag me through it all.
No my LS wasn't burning them.

I simply said to myself, "I want those flags." Then I got it done. I scanned /sea I looked up anyone in my current rank and I began inviting them for runs. Hardly took any real effort in the end since most of the fights were pretty easy. A few of them were more difficult and actually required the PT to be awake but I had a blast going through those missions and felt awesome afterwards.

Just another example of someone who expects things to fall into his lap instead of putting in the effort. I never really had much problems in FFXI because I didn't wait for my goals to just happen. It is a vital skill every player should be taught. Having everything casual as hell and not forcing group from an early level is going to rob players of this critical knowledge. Hell most people I invite to party aren't even flagged or in Uldahn. I just go through the list of players in range and ask them in /tell if they would like some EXP.

People need to stop equating FFXI and hard work to the boogey man. Those who give a damn about finishing something will find a way in a timely manner. You were only beating yourself. the game had nothing to do with it.

I didn't even have a LS on XI. I was a truly solo player (by this I mean I grouped with strangers when things needed to be done, but I didn't rely on a LS to do me any favors).

People who can't get a group going are just lazy tbh. I'd get groups going for anything even on XIV before the server merge. I never was unable to do something because of lack of people here or there.

But anyway, I agree 100% with this guy.

And no, it has nothing to do with luck. You get things done if you actually try. On XI you'd just copy paste the invite and send it to everyone who wasn't in a party an within level range. Also macro'd a party shout macro and run up and down through all of jeuno.

I made my own exp parties too. I'll tell you how long it took. On a good day 10 minutes, on a bad day, an hour. That was just the construction of it. That did not include traveling to camps...only to find they were taken...then have to add more time by checking online for other viable camps if the one you built your party around was taken. Oh and God help you if you had to move to another camp that really required another job...then that usually meant having to tell someone "I'm sorry, but your job is no longer viable for my party since we have to go to X camp." That sucked having to say something like that to someone, especially since they may have been lfp as long as an hour.

And again, I would make my own parties too in order to get things done, but again, luck factors in. And time you were own, and the day, because I know many LS's would run end game stuff, or go farming for this that and the other for their end game. So you can't tell me that it took only a few minutes to gather man power to go to Ugly Temple to deal with friggen tonberries from hell to get pop item to pop that stoopid Pawberry then go pop Mr. Man and deal with him >.>; to get the drop. And that pop item according to wiki could take "■Temple of Uggalepih (K-8) - ??? can take 15 minutes to 2 hours to spawn. " Yeah...guess who got the long spawn time.... >.>;

Anywho again my point is...people who played XI weren't lazy >.>; and it did involve LUCK a lot of times >.>;

I can appreciate that life becomes more complicated and as we get older most of us have less and less time to spend on video games. I am not entirely against the idea of a middle ground but I am absolutely against casualization for the sake of the lowest common denominator.

(Also just more going to cite the FFXIV or FFXI-2 poll thread in which there is a living portion, of which I mean majority, of players here and now who want much harder world but I digress.)

We already have leves for those without a great deal of time on their hands but wish to progress. One should not be able to progress faster solo then leves or a solo class which I hope they introduce. To give time poor players to opportunity to make their own way without watering down the experience for the rest of us. Story Line quests should be 2 parts solo/fetch/NM hunt 1 part group fight that requires a great deal of effort. I don't want to force everyone to be in a PT constantly to get any of the Story but it should be segments of pure story following a difficult challenge which you MUST band together.

By hitting key points where players will all be stuck you collect pools of available Pt members at junctures that are easy to /shout for. 6-2 being a good example. Even the most casual players and those with short play time per day can commit to a half a dozen real fights. It may take them more them a week but hey, thems the shots. If you can't put in more effort don't expect to move through as fast.

But then you are then being predjudice toward the casual gamer is what I'm hearing. What I am hearing is basically "group of GTFO" 4chan style. You are still wanting main story to have some sort of forced grouping. That again is not a middle ground. There are other parts of this game that are forced group, why can it not continue to be such? Main story solo optional and group content for extras such as side stories of main NPC's, rare gear, etc.

A post got a handful more likes then one of the options I presented. Still is far outnumbered by the combined posts which makes up the poll I total but that is neither here nor there.

You are so blind to your own concept of how an MMO has to work that even when proff is staring you in the face you present outside examples which can not be verified nor calculated. What other MMO's have causalized and received long term benefits? WoW is the only truly sucsessful example and WoW is such a statistical outlyer that it can't be used reasonably.

The posters in THIS forum for THIS game right HERE and NOW want a challenge. Want to actually feel like we're accomplishing something because we had to work for it.

Don't try to bait and switch, when you know you're wrong, and for your second statement I'll prove you wrong once more. WoW is not the only game. There is EVE Online, Lineage II both with over 8 years of services and new content, there is even newer games like Aion. Just three of many.

You want new content with challenge? And its gonna be for all audience. PC/PS3
