Well, it's more that we can count her among the, "not a threat." list or perhaps, "Not on Fandango's side" list. Still very much an Ascian, just not with the enemy.

I think there's a difference.

Being aware that she has the soul of Loghrif does not in itself make her an Ascian. She has resisted Mitron's attempt to overwrite her mortal self with the original Gaia's identity - assuming he could even successfully do that without the constellation stone. I'd have to rewatch the scenes but I think he is only trying to reawaken her through what memories he has of the original Gaia, not by directly giving the original's memories to her.

She has not successfully been raised to the seat of Loghrif and will not be attending the Ascian council meetings, if they're still holding those with Elidibus gone.

Constellation stones were recorded by unsundered after the sundering so they are not original's memories anyway.

If anyone's curious, the extra phase in E12S is Gaia fully awakened to her identity as Loghrif and assuming her role as Oracle of Darkness. So theoretically Mitron could have successfully restored her memories without the constellation stone, but that fight's a misremembrance on Gaia's part so who knows.

Either way no, Gaia has not retaken her seat as Loghrif and is not an Ascian per sé; she's only a reincarnation the same way the PC is a reincarnation of Azem. She does use her Ancient self's true name as her given name, but this is only because Mitron wiped most of her memories of mortal life in Eulmore and she decides they don't matter in the end.

Dreaded Ten Characters

I would point to Fandaniel though in response. Not all of the Sundered Ascians have the same goals and clearly are now more interested in going about their own paths. Fandaniel wants to see the world burn. Mitron was faithful to regaining his perfect self as the unsundered wanted. Gaia just wants to do her own thing. As for her memories, Mitron wanted to awaken what she had. That's the idea of the stellar crystals. They awaken memories. She knows her history, she just is not interested in going back to it. Even in the cutscenes as Loghrif, she seems disinterested in the Ascian goals and was more interested in her relationship with Mitron. The awakened Oracle of Darkness is technically not cannon, same as Final Omega, as much as I like to think they are. But they lend themselves to fleshing out "What If" scenarios. Even awakened, she's not interested in pursuing Ascian Goals, but more so compressing all of time into a single moment... Ala Ultimecia... throwing out all her memories to just be able to live in a single moment of time.

My money is on a recreation of Amaurot and its final days. They sky will turn red and meteors will come crashing down before we defeat the big bad in 5.5.

I'm curious as to how Nerva is going to play into this whole mess; particularly because of the fact that Fandaniel is financially backing his war effort seemingly with the intent of making him come out on top in the ongoing power struggle.

The fact that he's a legitimate heir to the throne due to being Varis' cousin makes me wonder if perhaps he's going to unwittingly serve as a catalyst for the summoning of this mysterious "Garlemald" primal by stirring the populace into a patriotic fervor.
