    Unable to download patch files

    So I am having a pretty frustrating issue. When I start the launcher to download 5.4 it not only says that its downloading a couple of KB/s but also eventually the DL speed will continue to drop untill it reaches 0 and an unable to download patch file error message will pop up. I have great DL speeds usually in the 100MB range and no one else, where I live is having the same issue with speeds. I am connected directly to my router and have restarted it a couple of times. I took off from work today to play with my FC, but now I dont think ill be able to.

    *Going on 13 hours ans still unable to download the update.

    Is the game launcher allowed through the fire wall? Additionally were changes are made to the network settings?

    yes it is. I even turned off my firewall in a bid to see if that was an issue but no dice. Also there were no changes made to the network settings.

    I have been attempting to download the patch since 10am my time. it is now almost 9pm in my time zone. that is almost 12 hours I havent been able to even launch the game. I have tried almost all the solutions suggested online and on the support site. and nothing has worked. I was literally playing before the maintenance with no issues

    Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

    -Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

    - Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

    -Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.

    Does the issue still occur if the application is launched under " Run as administrator"? Additionally, are you connected directly to the router?

    Try using a VPN and changing your location to Russia. It might slow the download down a bit but it may also enable you to download the files.

    I had no end of trouble trying to download the maingame files and nothing in tech support suggestions was working.
    I found this workaround by reading some old threads in steam tech support written by users suffering the same issues.
