    Temporary or not I'm just curious why they changed it. I think between the Gold Court and the main road towards the Adventurer's Guild acts as a zone point, moving from one area to the other makes anyone around you disappear for a moment like you're accessing a different area of the zone. Dunno if that's related to it but I'm still curious.

    Yes, it's directly related. When that happens you actually move to a different server. This was explained in beta when they were making adjustments to the size of those zones.
