Yep that family are goners, especially considering the precedent is very against Valens sparing the daughter.
That said I have to agree that they didlay it on thick with how cartoonishly evil he is. The fact that he's a fascist should had been proof enough that he's a villain, but I understand that in this day and age, they'd like to make sure we know how evil he is.
Possible cross story ties in the future.
I think there might be some intersection with the Bozja and Weilyt arcs once all's said and done. Not necessarily enough to require their completion, but maybe enough to inform how certain developments might plan out. Espeiclly if Fandanial has any interest in the tempered Gunnhildr's Blades or the Weapons as tools for his Final Days recreation.
Speaking of which I think those Porxies are gonna come in handy in Bozja in 5.5
