Was just curious if anyone had pride in their gear anymore? Every group I've had in the past month has had at least 2 to 3 players who had no pride in their gear. They wear nothing that is optimal. Now I'm not saying they should be wearing 2+ melded gear. I'm just saying you should be wearing the basic gear that cost next to nothing on the market ward. For example, instead of wearing a dated 5 accuracy ring, you could be wearing a 15 accuracy ring. It is not a large investment, at least not on my server. Here's another example for you. Last night I joined a pug ifrit group. The leader asked for experienced DOM classes only. I was the only DOM dps class that joined..... But that's besides the point. Three of the people in the party had atrocious gear. We had a white mage who was using a +water spell damage wand and a +attack power shield. We had a monk who was using +5 strength rings and a neck piece that added +5 attack power. Finally we had one guy who had no accessories equipped and half of his gear broken. When asked to put on his accessories, he just said he didn't have any, yet he was wearing an ifrit weapon. Shortly after he put on the Egg holiday rings and told us that was as good as it was going to get. This is just one example, but believe me when I say this is not a rare occurrence.

So I ask you guys this simple question. Where has the pride gone? Do people literally just not care anymore about properly gearing their characters, or is my server just filled with peanut heads?

To be honest before lvl 50, i dont care really. From 1-30 ill be gear the same way or with crap that i found here and there. From 30 ill try to get Rare/ex from NM's and stay with those gear almost to 50 if i can. Whats the point to buy gear under lvl50 at the fast rate Job can be Level up? And at 50 go get ur AF, then i try to get good ring and stuff for this Lvl. But under 50......there is no point.

I guess it really doesn't matter if you play alone, but if you are grouping up at any point along the way, you are just wasting everyone's time. You could be using good gear, you could be doing more dps, you could be taking/healing better. But instead you rather not care, and in the end it is just wasting your group's time and patience. I'm honestly tired of carrying people through my groups because they couldn't be bothered to spend 3 minutes gearing up their character. It's not an issue of money because money is everywhere in this game, unless you are literally trying for double/triple melds non stop. Am I really the only person that is bothered by this?

i try to be well equipped, in order to help the party succeed, always aiming for the best damage... but i feel like it doesn't even make THAT much difference , unless you spend horrendous sums. So, why even bother? Besides, having several classes to play and equip eat's up a lot of money.
Also, i noticed often enough, that it's overequipped elitist people (not adressing you) , that tend to put themselves and their believes over the strategy and wellbeeing of the party. Doing things like deciding to change from second tank position into bard , without telling anyone, and even after everyone died because of it , still claiming that it was a good idea.
I am more bothered by the mentality of people concerning group play, than by them wearing slightly non-optimal gear. If you want to have pride in anything, have pride in your skill, rather than in the pixel's you equip :/

there is no pride in this game when it come to gear it's pretty much all pointless beside the darklight gear and even that is w/e because within a few months we get new dungeon with new gear. I just hope this don't go on every few month they bring a new dungeon with new gear and the old dungeon become pointless and the gear is also pointless.

Once again, I'm not talking about dark light or any other raid/dungeon gear. I can understand if people cannot invest hours on end each night working toward the best of the best gear. I'm talking about the bare minimum gear. You know, electrum rings/neck piece, or any other relevant stat for their class. I'm asking why a large population of 50 players are wearing level 30 gear to their party's? Do they just not give a damn, or do they just not have a single clue about what the hell they are doing?

I don't think people care about lower level gear they get 50 so quick and get AF they just don't care about wearing top of the line gear that you going to use for only a few hours most people get pl and party that very quick you can get 1-50 within 2days of hours of partying or over 5days of partying so people just don't care.

Once again, I am referring to level 50s playing in a level 50 party. I am well aware that people can reach 50 in literally no time at all, but that doesn't excuse the fact that they want to wear dumpster gear to level 50 raid events.

Lets be honest. When was the last time you grouped with someone wearing level 30 gear in a level 50 party, and was wowed by his great performance? Odds are, if they cannot be bothered to actually wear optimal gear at 50, they are not going to perform well "skill" wise. I can literally be the best player in the world and go naked to an ifrit run. I could use a level one weapon, and perform all the mechanics perfectly. The fact still stands though that because I refused to wear appropriate gear, I ended up slowing down the over all progress of my group. I was a hindrance no matter how well I performed. And whether people want to acknowledge it or not, stats actually do make a difference on gear. A neck piece that adds 5 attack power and one that adds 30 attack power is a "big" difference. I don't know if everyone I'm playing with is too used to WoW, where everyone hits for tens of thousands, but in FF every little stat, even if it is only in the double digits, makes a great difference.

Your right im a soloer, up to 40+, and even more, or i wont say no to power lvl. so why should i care about gear? And i dont know in whatparty you've been on, but for Experience Party the kills goes generally so fast cause a lack of real difficulty in this game, thati dont know why i should care. I do care at 50 for Donjon, moogle, ifrit or any End-game cause this is the place its matter. Before that its not affecting things enough to be essential.
