    Feels boring...

    Ive played this games since its launch in ARR. I made it through each and every expansion at my own leisure. And enjoyed every fight. But I'm sure this has been said before, I feel like SE destroyed class/job abilities. They feel boring now. As a tank, you pop your tank ability and go to town. Pop an occasional buff or some invincibility. Healers feel like they've had the least amount of change.... Is what I would like to say. But they got stripped of their unique qualities. Physical DPS got their combos stripped down to the bare minimum. And casters..... Let's just say they have the least amount of change that I have seen. Except SMN. I'm personally upset that titan can't tank anymore. Was 1 of the best things about smn especially in lower dungeons when the tank gets booted cause they can't do squat. But no. Now titan is a weak dps. It just all feels so..... Lame, for a lack of a better word. Is it just me or are there people who see it too?

    I very much agree with your statement.
    To be frank there are some spells of tanks and heals that I don't know the name of, cause it's just "oh that's the Medica" or "oh that's the Circle of Fate" And I put it on the same spot in the bar. There is flavor in the visuals and thematics of the spells, but gameplay wise they feel really close. Well, closer to each other than DPS are for sure.

    As for DPS, I concur they were streamlined a lot indeed, I have in mind NIN (but it was welcome 5.0 design was flawed), MCH.
    And Monk is going even further in that direction (on the + side it will be a smooth rotation, on the - side well...same gameplay for 7 years.)

    We have to acknowledge they were given SO. MUCH. SHIT. in the past (myself included) on tank balance in the past. In their defense they tried to correct that, but they took the "easy" way (with very similar gameplay, it's hard to lack balance so...). I heard they were only 4 on job design for 17 jobs (new skills) + new jobs : Hire up Square ! What are you waiting for ?

    Job gameplay is something heavily scrutinized, a definite point of attention for experienced MMO players that can make or break a game rep ! Look how many people outside of FF ticked at the 2.5 sec GCD and you have to tell them it's faster in endgame all the f time ; that's how you see gameplay is essential to attractiveness / unattractiveness from an outsider viewpoint. And Job design plays a big part in gameplay.

    Yeah, I agree with everything that's been said so far.

    As far as I'm concerned we sacrificed a lot of the fun of having different jobs. What's the point of having 4 tanks of the differ in name and aesthetics only bar 2 or so abilities? Might as well just consolidate them into <tank> & <healer> since that is what SE essentially did.

    Yup, just returned after a 2+ year break, only to find my class kit has been utterly gutted.

    Sorry, I mean "streamlined".

    May as well just reduce all my abilities down to the following:

    Damage button
    AoE damage button
    Random self heal/defensive CD
    Maybe a taunt button, except holding aggro is now ridiculously easy.

    While we're at it, just remove all stats on items too except for ilvl. Its the only stat 99% of us look at anyhow.

    I wouldn't want XIV to become an action RPG. If they want to make their next FF MMO an action-RPG, I'd be happy with it. But changing XIV's combat system completely? I don't think that's what I want...

    IMO tanks and healers probably 'suffered' the most from the homogenization in 5.X.
    But as was said above, they were given a lot of shit on balance in the past. So....that's probably wishful thinking, but hopefully this was just the groundwork and they will do something cool in 6.X to differentiate the jobs a bit more...
