Edit: I stated that I could not find any SE environmental policy information, however someone has pointed out that Square Enix pledged to pursue ISO 14001:2015 certification, which is great!

I buy only nuclear energy since it's clean and cheap
......what carbon footprint?.With so much of Final Fantasy XIV's storyline focusing on the exploitation of natural resources, and even highlighting the fall of an entire civilization from the abuse of technology, it leads me to reflect on the environmental footprint of the game itself.
I have been inspired by the story to believe in humanity's potential to create a brighter future, and to take actions in my daily life to help achieve this. However, I feel a little hypocritical when I log in to play FFXIV, when I consider that I cannot find a Square Enix policy to address climate change while we are in this time of crisis for our own Earth's environment.
I feel that if the players brought this up, Square Enix would surely respond positively and take reasonable actions to reduce their carbon footprint where possible. What do you guys think?
SE stated a few years ago:
By 2019, Square Enix would strive to attain an ISO 14001:2015. Prior to 2019, Square Enix will start to maintain an EMS, which will be built on top of our existing Quality Management System as suggested by Willborn (1998) seen in Figure 7: Adapting EMS based on QMS (Willborn, 1998). With the EMS, the first internal audit will start by 4th quarter of 2017. Square Enix will release a Corporate Social Responsibility objective in upcoming months. The time is needed for our company to address our company stand and consult environmental experts, nevertheless, as according to Russell (2008) CSR “is too big an issue to leave to someone else to address” and recommended both companies and project managers to work harder to influence environmental sustainability as both are the front-line decision makers, consistent with Watson et al.’s (2012) call. Finally, Square Enix will join the global reporting initiative in producing an environmental transparency report from the beginning of 2017, despite it being not mandatory in Japan.
During this period, all project managers will be sent for ISO14000 training, enabling a better understanding for ISO 140000 lieu of the implementation.
Now a question for you OP, what steps are you doing to reduce your PC's carbon footprint?

Im narrowing my conversation to FFXIV, so in this case, are we talking about the electricity that the servers produce in order to run the game?
Because Im sure any and every online gaming company would love to use such things, if they exist and are affordable.
They do exist and the cost isn't great. A lot of data centres do capture the waste heat from servers and turn it into power, or supply it as heating to local residents. For any company with shareholders, placing one's servers in facilities like that are a few simple to get brownie points.
At the power point I hope, there is a surprising lot of vampire current in your tv, kitchen equipment, monitors, and plugpacks! If your home has been fitted with a smart meter there are devices that can record that and help you reduce further (a wise thing for anyone running on solar power too)
