This is the very reason people get rich by selling vendor items on the mb. People are too lazy to be bothered to read the items they're selling or buying. They put the vendor sale and purchase prices on the item description for this very purpose. Just take a moment when listing to look at the bottom of the box for the price. If you cannot be bothered to look at something literally right in front of you, then you get what you get. I mean, how much do you need your hand held...
"I am Velius, the devil" - Velius, FFT
When you put an item up for sale on the marked board the NPC vendor sale price gets automatically filled in. If you are lowering that price, you are doing something wrong. We don't need any further notice.
If you initially list it higher and then reduce the price in response to someone undercutting you (perhaps multiple times) it's not so obvious though. You have to hover over the item and check the tooltip for the NPC vendor price.
