    Playtime rewards

    Please implement a system which rewards you on your 'in game /playtime' so you get a special reward for every 30 days (meaning you were logged in 720 hours) as a loyalty system for staying loyal to Square enix (and Eorzea).

    I would make this a gil based system where you get a mail with:

    /playtime 30 days ---> 100k gil
    /playtime 60 days ---> 200k gil
    /playtime 90 days ---> 300k gil
    and so on... that way staying on the game feels more rewarding since the longer you'd stay the more reward you'd get.

    You can ofcourse also replace this gil reward with a boost to already existing benefits like the wedding ring for example where you can decrease the reload timer on it with 10 sec for every 30 days (amongst other possibilities).

    But no matter what the reward, I think it should go up so oldskool players feel rewarded for their loyalty.

    Please don't.
    For one thing one can easily stay logged in 24 hours a day without actually playing, but doing that contributes to server load and server congestion.
    Secondly it is not a good thing to encourage people to be logged in and playing all the time. On the contrary, players should be encouraged to take pauses when needed.
    Thirdly, being logged in a vast number of hours does not show loyalty. It shows obsession and/or having been around since forever.

    Nope. I've seen enough "players" in the exact same position in-game for over a week of time.

    Don't need to reward such behavior.

    There already is a loyalty system in place, it's the Veteran Reward system, that SE later neuteured because so much time had passed since launch it was virtually impossible for new players to get the then latest rewards, so most were added to the achievement NPC and became purchasable with achievment points instead.

    The Veteran Reward system is based on time subscribed rather than actual time logged in game though, which is deliberate, for the reasons mentioned in posts above, it would only encourage players to sit idle and not do anything, and potentially congest the servers even more than they already are. So you are not going to see any rewards for time logged I'm sorry to say.

    Am I reading this correctly: SE feels a moral obligation to discourage people from spending excessive amounts of time playing the game? This reeks of Socialism and assumes people aren't smart enough to decide for themselves. Quite offensive really. Some people enjoy rewards for the hours put in and will move on to some other game which caters to this. It's not your moral duty to tell others how to play.

    It's not like that : rather, they think of the game as a come and go (cause they're adapting to a market of players that flock from game to game around the year, some League, some Overwatch, a little wow, a little FF.. etc.), and say : once you've finished the content of the pacth, you're free to go don't come complain about the lack of content, play other games.

    They don't "force" you or discourage you necessarily to log out. But having a bunch of AFKers putting unnecessary strain on the server when trying to log in when a new patch / expansion comes out is not something anyone wants.

    Surely if you pay your subscription fee you're free to do as you please. Bankstanding is common in mmos. Mmos is as afk as it gets, its end game grinders who'd put most strain on the servers

    Surely that is not the case. If you ever bothered to read the Terms of Use, you'd know that there are lots of things you aren't allowed to do in the game, so you clearly are not free to do as you please.
    Standing around AFK is not forbidden per se but that does not mean it should be encouraged in any way. Most MMOs automatically log out players who have been AFK for a certain amount of time, something FFXIV normally does not do but which has been enabled occasionally to reduce server load.

    Some kind of loyalty reward would be nice, I remember they use to have some but moved em all to the achievement vendor in old gridania.

    Maybe one based off how many times u subbed or some other time based thing.

    It'd be nice to see someone with a reward like that and be all like, that guy right there is an ancient, he's been around and seen some stuff, or you get the reward and be all like YEAH YEAH.
