Character Renaming Service FAQ

The Character Renaming Service allows users to change the name of a single character for $10.00 USD. You may access this service through "Additional Services" on the Mog Station (https://www.mogstation.com).

You will not be able to use the Character Renaming Service if any of these conditions apply to your account:

- You do not have an active service account for FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- You do not have game time remaining on the service account.
- The service account to be used has been suspended, including suspensions due to a violation of the service agreement or suspicious account access.
- The account is a Free Trial account.
- Less than 24 hours have passed since last using the Character Renaming Service.
- The character selected for a name change has a pending Home World Transfer Service application.

It works immediately. Just pay for it. Log on and you have to change the character’s name before you can use it.

What do you mean? I literally did this 2 weeks ago in an alt. The name was immediately available to change.

IIRC, you get a "free" name change if you transfer to another world and your name happens to be taken.
But that's a big IF.

It is not that big of an if, just make another character with said name of the target server either with a 8-character per world subcription (so that you can use your main after transfering) or with a free trial. However, it requires that you do not have any house to lose by transfering...

With the slight complication that a world transfer costs more than a name change in the first place, and then you need a second one to get back to your original server.

Indeed, but if you're moving servers you can use this to get a free name change with it.
