    Nudging Eirikur

NPC Eirikur (X9.7, Y9.0 = The Crystalline Mean, Crystarium) originates some pretty fair Levequests, but also mixes in some lesser colleague versions which are closer to dud than their stud brethren. Fortunately, Eirikur's quest menu does vary at intervals so as to mix the greater and lesser varieties. One function that appears to trigger this quest menu rotation is the redemption of one or more of those self same Levequests. Quest menu rotation based on that seems to be random; either occurring in a category the customer is not presently viewing, or not happening at all, or happening with undesirable results. What I've seen is that about 1 in 20 (yeah, wholly unscientific ) or so redemptions yields a Ferrari menu, all others are SUV or worse. If there is quest menu rotation caused by some other trigger, I haven't yet found it.

So... the question is, does anyone know of a way to nudge Eirikur to change his menu at customer will? My guess is - no way, but maybe someone out there knows better!

    TIA - Shooter.

Not sure what you mean. There are only three possible levequests per level per class for the Crystarium leves, and all three are always available to take. If there is one leve you like more than the others, you are perfectly able to just spam that one leve over and over.

And those never change, you are always free to select any of the three per level tier at anytime. There isn't any actual RNG or variation in which leves appear, it's always the same three leves per level.

    Eirikur's menus

Nods, I'll explain it more clearly!

Spamming the one Leve over and over can be done, but each spam does not necessarily yield the version of that specific Levequest that is desired. There are 6 types of Levequest that can be seen via this spamming. Some offer to return mats, some to return crystals, and some offer to return cash - all of which accompanies a (the) basic Levequest experience reward. My question concerns which of the 6 quests we now see, after having just triggered a menu rotation via quest redemption. Spamming is good, if it can be done by some means other than quest redemption. Say we're in the "refill crystals" business today, and would prefer to encounter only Eirikur's 102 crystal reward quests. If I accept and complete a quest, Eirikur will respond, much of the time, by rotating his menu, so that the quest reward changes; presumably this is a sort of RNG process. Now then, when Eirikur thusly changes his Levequest menu, is the incoming (next) Levequest crystal intensive, or does it return a mat, or perhaps a bit of cash.. This randomness is what I'm trying to bypass, because using quests themselves to rotate the menu means that many of our quest Allowances are burned doing quest which do not return the desired reward.

So, I was out here fishing for a better way to encourage Eirikur to change his menu - like dancing under the full moon with a Chocobo, or praying to "God Umpty-ump"... some process offered by the game to force quest menu to change, without burning Levequests to do it.

Yes, each levequest has several reward options, from which the reward is randomly chosen. The available quests and their rewards are rerandomized when you complete a quest (and probably also every X amount of time), but there's no guarantee a different reward would be chosen. However given that there's eight crafting classes, five level brackets per class and three quests per bracket, you can shop around for the ones that give crystals.

Personally I don't think levequests are a good way to obtain crystals, or anything else besides experience points for that matter. The same items are more easily obtained by gathering. The Giving Land allows gathering around 100 crystals from a single node every three minutes, and using other buffs or even doing unbuffed gathering in the meantime will easily yield another 100. You'll be hard pressed to spend less than 1.5 minutes total time on a levequest, with all the steps involved. The non-crystal rewards are just plain not worth it since crafting the items requires more materials than you get.

Yeah I didn't even consider the random gil/mats/crystals when you were trying to explain your issue, since as said above, they're trash fluff you just get as bonus. Leves are probably the least efficient way in the game to get that stuff if that is what you're after.
