This is entirely possible. Although many here are longing to explore the empire, it's not difficult to see that a full scale invasion of Garlemald would rehash Stormblood. But a destroyed or raving apocalyptic area around the capitol that is visited to retrieve something or shut something off or down now becomes more feasible and falls in line with where the story may be going and does something very different from Stormblood. In this way we could by pass the messy war and all the unexplored territories, to have hellscape on earth in the capitol. But only as 1 out 6 new areas.

The Bahamut-like entity is specifically referred to as "the primal feeding on the wish to save its world" in the German version of the trailer, which further makes me suspect it's some kind of lesser manifestation of Zodiark that's only going to end up causing more destruction and chaos in any attempts it makes to act on the wishes for salvation it's fueled by.
The feathery-looking wings also call to mind Zodiark's "true" form in FFXII that it transforms into during Final Eclipse.

(From this thread from 2018)
I'm aware that "Garlemald City will be a solo instance with only a few available abilities" has technically already happened (thanks, Estinien!). I bring this up because the line in the EN trailer made it sound like Garlemald city was in danger of being wiped off the map, and it rekindled fears we might not get to go there in any 'full' capacity. From what I understand the other languages aren't quite so dire (is that accurate?).
The energy towers really intrigue me. The trailer in general seemed heavy on Void stuff/aesthetic.

I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.

Been waiting to see more Terncliff fav city like zone asethic wise, also I'm assuming the cerelum explosions are related mostly to Werlyt's storyline. I do hope we see Ilsabard one day who knows they've hinted at further reconstruction efforts in 6.0 a destroyed capital seems like the perfect opportunity for that.

So here goes my rampant speculation and educated guesses:
1. Voidsent Looking Root Bird Thing taken over Bahamut's body. Looks like idk, Xande or whatever Allagans built Azys Lla gave over Bahamut's physical body to the void, maybe? It really looks like Pazuzu fused with Bahamut fused with one of those Bears that is taken over by plants.
2. Huge swathes of the Imperial Capitol reduced to rubble. Seems on point for the civil war activity that erupted there in 5.1.
3. Giant Porxie boss fight on the Source. Matoya dabbles in Porxies? Huh.
4. At 1:39 you can see Eden right behind our Ascian dude turning on his mask in The Empty.
5. Looks like we're going to battle an FF1 reference in the form of Lich in the new Bozja catacombs thing.
6. Instanced battle alongside Merlwyb in The Navel. Didn't notice the first few watches that the WoL is there tanking.
7. Some more cool bosses in Bozja catacombs thing. A prototype Phantom Ray maybe? Followed by some girl thing doing Ice/Fire move.
8. Time draws near, DRK LB3 place has the same background as the place Gaia is having her magical headache fits.
Misc observations: Since Zenos is in his Dissidia outfit, he uses two new katanas entirely in that I think? I remember seeing him use Shinryu, Susano, and I think his Lightning elemental Garlean make one still. My guess would be, Fandaniel brought him new ones or he's gone out and gotten better? /shrug. It's that or, in the way he manifested an aetherial katana over the broken deep gold one he used to kill Varis/fight Estinien and Gaius... maybe he's just into aether blades now.
Looks like the oldest of the Raen orphans is going to be Emerald's pilot, as Rex was seen pulling he girl away.

(Damn, how long does it take to "confirm login?" I had to spend hours logged in to get this thing to acknowledge me!)
Ahem.
There aren't many hints regarding the Eden storyline, I don't care about the Bozja storyline, and the Weapon storyline will be what it is. (I just hope for no Aire Tam Storm from Emerald!)
MSQ: ahh, a good chunk of the Garlean capital is rubble! Seriously doubt we're going there now!
Ahem. The only thing I can say with any degree of certainty is the towers that appear to have been deployed in various places around Eorzea do have a striking similarity to Mhachi architecture (e.g. Void Ark). Combine that with a quick shot of the World of Darkness and the general "Void-y" feel from the Bahamut... thing... and all the blue fire and shit, and yeah, I get the feeling the Void is going to be involved moving forward. In what capacity, and who else will be players on the stage, I could not yet say.
Speaking of which, Fandaniel's use of theater terminology (referring to the cast as such verbatim) has me even more interested in him than before. Really hope he doesn't get backstabbed by Zenos, that'd be a big waste in my opinion.

I think that Fandango is setting up the towers we see that look almost like Mhach style Voidsent towers. I believe he intends to enact total planetary wide devastation via a Lunar Cry of sorts, that breaks the seal on Zodiark, so that he may be turned over to Zenos. Of course, the moon falling will also devastate much of the planet, basically re-enacting the Final Days.
As far as the Bozja raid goes, I don't know what to expect. I'm also confused as to why Misjia is wearing mook armor.
I can't decide whether or not Merlwyb confronting the Kobolds is integral to the strange void-like towers plot or if it's red herring.
What do the Floating City of Nym and The Lochs have in common, if anything?
