I'm having a hard time picturing what things you would be "finding out for yourself" that the story would otherwise have told you, that you avoided specifically by using the skip, without going back and catching up on the story.
Tbh, I find things like that to be meh. But as you said, you do you. Me personally? I play games for story and have at least 30 alts I created just for story. Ive been playing FFXIV since beta phase 3 and its the only mmo I'm willing to pay for. So I get how you feel, I just dont understand the skip but thats not my place to judge
You kinda hurt yourself doing that. The story and leveling experience is 95% of the game, there's barely anything to do at max level. You basically paid to be bored faster.
More power to you though.
It is not. I haven't played as long as others, but I have over 4000 hours played, and I did the story, didn't skip anything, read sidequests too believe it or not. The majority of my time spent in this game was definitely not doing the story. Nor was anyone else who plays this game regularly.
WHM | RDM | DNC
of course not. on first character? i find it dumb.
and ive been proven right during shadowbringers launch and the people i got matched with in dungeons.
Alts? sure i guess
You mean potion or flatout skip? If potion then no, but skip yeah, because I played since ARR, ARR story was not interesting and after that I lost interest. I did replay with an alt though, went through the whole ARR for shadowbringers, so I could at least see the big picture. Can't say It made me regret skipping though, but to each their own I guess.
I'm a fan of stories in rpgs. Just not this particular rpg.
