I mean, all those games you compared Witcher 3 are a whole different genre, one which is heavily focused on fast-paced combats to begin with. Of course TW3 would feel slow if your whole reference are hack-and-slash, since TW3 is, first and foremost, a RPG. And from what you state about the story, it doesn't give much of the impression you've taken many detours.

All in all, sounds more like an issue you have with western RPGs more than the game itself, issue that comes from judging them under the same criteria than action-oriented games, which seems the ones you came from before playing TW3, and expecting things games of that genre don't really aim towards.

No. When I'm told TW3 is the greatest thing ever and a must play all the time by everyone and their mother then I expect something that'll you know... be good. I have no issues with WRPGs as I'm a big fan of Bioware's Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. Andromeda being my current fav. It has nothing to do with WRPGs and everything to do with TW3's and CDPR's over hype. It'll be different if people didn't fanboy over that one game but come one man. You can't say anything about them without fanboys attacking you. And in my opinion the game isn't even that good. I mention the combat because like it or not even if it is an RPG I'm still hacking and slashing and that part of the game sucks. The story didn't grab me either and the over all art direction of the game was just boring medtimes with some fantasy thrown in. Overall compared to any FF title it looks completely boring in my opinion and doesn't fit the overly anime and crazy colors and style of any Final Fantasy titles.
