I'm wanting to stand to assume that it is going to be in reference to rankings itself seeing as it is the last ranked season, with them perhaps adding periodic updates to Ishgard Restoration itself, or just allowing for it to be doable even in the future. Based on the simple fact of what they've done with these titles, I want to stand to assume they aren't silly enough to end the possibility of getting the mount, or other titles with ishgard restoration seasonal finale (see The Height of [x] and [x] of a feather.

This is at least probable to happen, though anything now is just a ballpark guess since they can do multiple things with it. They could try and push for a sync'd feature (e.g. equivalent to sanctioned debuffs of Ixali, or updating recipes periodically to try and maintain the difficult/prestige of Pteranodon- They'd annoy quite a few people with it if they turned around and just allowed us to use Trained Eye > Groundwork > Job done)

you'd still have to do the gathering part even if you could nerf the crafter part by waiting til you could trained eye everything at level 90. pteranodon mount is nothing more than a slog, a test of patience and commitment.

I'm fairly confident that his comment was relating only to the ranked season titles as this is going to be the last ranked season for Ishgard. They're giving people a lot of forewarning because people are pissy and complained a lot when they tried to change the title to "Saint Ascendant" and so they feel like they can't just get rid of the chance to obtain the Saint of the Firmament title without giving folks a heads-up. Unless they do away with Diadem altogether with this next patch, which I highly doubt is the case, you will be able to continue working towards the Pteranodon mount.

You can still contribute spoils even after Ishgard Restoration is over so it can be used to level your crafter class.

It'll be only easier to obtain later because you'll massively overgear Expert recipes and will do them through macros in the next expansion. They can also increase gathering yelds though new skills.

You'd also have to hope they don't adjust the points for turning items in again. It's going to be a long road next expansion getting the Skyward achievements completed if you're only earning 25 point per craft turned in, and 3 points per Artisanal material appraised. It might be easier through macro crafting with greatly improved gear but it would be more time consuming through sheer volume of items that would need to be turned in compared to what is required now.

Personally, I wouldn't suggest waiting.

Diadem will likely be capped at level 80 so no new skills. The ilevel sync will likely be to ~i500 so level 87+ gathering gear will likely sync to the current stat caps. Something around 2727 Gathering, 2727 Perception and 826 GP will be the maxed synced stats if gathering gear keeps the same stat ratios before melding.

The ranking achievements are hidden achievements, like seasonal achievements. You only see them if you earn them, and they become unobtainable later.

The gathering and crafting achievements are all visible before you get them. These usually continue to be obtainable.

If they remove the Pteranodon I'll accept it and miss it. I don't mind a bit of grind and liked Expert crafting, but life is far too short to grind 500 hours on the same recipe for a rather unimpressive dinosaur.
