I myself don't mind people making said characters and role-playing as them. I however don't like it if for instance if I run across someone who's rping as Y'shtola who is acting all pervy and running around in only a bikini bottom. I am fine though with those who are currently are not on a job that character wouldn't be while also having said job/class unlocked.
Well, since no one has the means to control another player's character, it is a rather moot question. However, on WoW's roleplaying servers, it's considered bad form to roleplay a named NPC.

Such people tend to be ostracised regardless if they are playing their characters true to the lore or not. I feel it would not be any different here.
