    Multiple Houses

Now I get it. Back when housing launched, you spend the money, buy 10-20 houses and fill it up with stuff. But I honestly believe Square needs to make people with multiples like that choose a house and then auto-demo the rest. It's not fair to the rest of the community in these times of severely limited housing to see an FC taking up 13 plots or an entire ward. Action needs to be taken. And for people who say that its not fair they have to give up their stuff? Tbh, that should be what they get for being greedy. Greed shouldn't be rewarded when it's causing others to suffer.

I don't think taking housing away from players that have more than 1 is the answer. I DO however feel putting a much time and resources into a much more comprehensive version of instanced housing than apartments is tho.

That or just going ahead and putting out a dozen or so more wards per residential district per world instead of 3 every year or so.

SE already made the decision to let extremely-rare alt personal houses to stay in existence, for those that had them prior to 2018. It's unlikely for them to reverse that decision.

Doing so doesn't benefit them much, since alt personals are extremely rare and taking away all grandfathered personal houses from alts would probably free up 10-50 houses per server.

So 2-50 people per server (some with multiple subscriptions) quit the game over their losses and in exchange 10-50 people and FCs get housing, possibly securing their interest in the game when it probably wasn't in very much danger in the first place. Solving a non-problem by creating a grievance for players like this doesn't make good business sense when they can just open new wards.

I'm on Siren server in Aether datacenter. There are several wards with FC's that have 10+ houses. The rest of us have to compete while they use 1 house and use the rest for storage. It's not ok. Now I get that SE could have created a better housing area, but that still doesn't mean that these people, 2 years later, are able to keep all these houses. I also made a char on another server once where a single FC bought every plot in 4 wards. I don't remember which server as I did that back when housing released. But my point is, there are so many people and FC's competing for these houses while these greedy jerks sit on multiple houses. Granted it won't completely solve the issues at hand but it helps. If they have to, SE can compensate them for it. But these people need to give up houses they don't even use.

considering many fcs have a grip on 7 homes each and 9/10 times the fc is dead, i feel its perfectly justifiable or add stricter restrictions on FC homes because frankly this is ridiculous. Cant take away what they arent supposed to have

This is my point exactly. And players who have multiple houses only use the extra to house housing items they can't fit. Like crafters who craft every piece of furniture and every new content they craft every piece there and then stick it in their extra houses. So they aren't even being used for anything except extra storage.

Sorry, but I think you're mixing up personal houses with FC houses. Personal houses are restricted to one per world per service account. The only people with more than one personal house were grandfathered in, two years ago. It's now impossible for people to get more than one personal house and that number of grandfathered housing is only going down as people stop playing (auto demolition) or have to demolish themselves to move worlds.

However, any service account can still have up to 8 FC houses on the same world. They'd have to create 8 separate FCs and level them all to rank 6 and have four members and finally the money to buy the houses, but there's no actual restriction on the number of houses other than the limit of characters. Two years ago Square Enix changed it so both personal and FC housing were restricted to 1 per world per service account, but they removed the FC restriction only a week later. They've never said why, but I think it was probably due to issues with passing FC leadership with an inactive leader (or just wanted to temporarily pass leadership to someone else). I know that the housing mini website says FC houses are restricted, but for whatever reason they've never updated that part of the site.

Also, when you buy a house in-game there's no mention at all of housing restrictions (except when it won't let you buy it) and there's certainly no link to the housing mini site (the only place that actually say about the limit of houses). So it's more than possible for people to buy houses without even seeing this mini site or knowing that at one time SE placed a restriction on FC housing.

Basically my point is you want to remove multiple housing from people, but as long as the game lets people do this, they're not doing anything wrong. Greedy? Yes possibly, but they're not breaking any game rules either so it's unfair to suddenly remove their houses. They also had to fight to get those houses in the first place, using the same systems as everyone else, they're not just automatically handed a house. It'd also impossible to compensate for loss of property too. Yes could refund the base house price, but it's unlikely they'd have anywhere to store all the furniture without a house and they can't really compensate for time/effort/Gil in decorating them either.

Much easier for Square Enix to just work on adding new houses.

I'm talking about those grandfathered in. And even so, SE doesn't have to input a massive code to demo. It's easy enough to send a message and make them choose then auto demo the rest. And they can also put restrictions on Service accounts as well and make it so all chars in a server have access to that house. Really not that hard. And do you really think they are spending the time to add more so people can keep their stuff? No. In the almost 8 years since launch, they upped housing twice. And with barely any actual add ons. They plan to do it again. And people will fight over it. But then you have these FC's with 20 houses and choice few people who will just buy the house, create an alt and buy another personal just to hog as many as they can leaving those who need 1 to sit and fight. It's not fair. SE can do something but refuse to.

Would be nice to actually have numbers about how many houses are actually grandfathered in since I hear lots of speculation about numbers. Could very well be less then you think.

Yes I am one of them. With 2 personal houses. And to the hateful people claiming that second houses are just storage that is simply not true both are carefully and loving decorated.
Using and alt house as storage is simply not very feasible since everything that has been placed becomes untradable and since we can't become a tenant of our alts you can't ever use it again in another house

You're going to be wrong about motive for purchasing most of the grandfathered multiple personal houses. Transferring housing items between characters on the same account is a royal pain unless you've got them all in the same FC with a FC house, in which case you've got the FC house for the storage and don't need the extra houses on your alts. It's not worth storing a housing items for future use when the majority are extremely cheap to make and you're going to have to do some character switching gymnastics to get to the item you want.

The multiple personal house owners have the extra houses on their alts because they wanted their alts to have houses to decorate, additional garden patch access, or to keep out neighbors who might decorate houses in way they didn't like. As others have pointed out, the number of players with multiple personal houses on the same world is very small. Most with multiple personal houses have them on different worlds, which is still allowed by the current rules.

Now there are a lot of players with single houses who are only using them for storage and have admitted such. They wanted a place to store the housing items they got through seasonal events, quest rewards, etc. in case they ever got interested in housing in the future, at which point they'd already have a house to decorate. Apartments can't store outdoor furnishings which left a house the only option. They had the gil, houses were available so they bought one. It's up to them how they use their house, not up to you to say whether or not they're using it in an acceptable manner.

Multiple FC house owners are a different creature. They're generally after multiple garden patches, workshops and wheel stands to make gil.

I suspect you'd be wrong with your guess about how difficult it would be to properly code this to prevent errors from happening.

Far more likely SE would have to demo every single house regardless of owner and force everyone to repurchase. That's not going to happen.

I understand the frustration the player base is experience with the current housing situation. But what you're asking for is yet another band-aid solution that would give a few dozen players access to a house without fixing the real problem, which is supply.

I'd rather see SE spend their time fixing the system than wasting time on changes that accomplish nothing in the long run.

Trading used housing items around is possible. Just need to share tenancy in another player's house or be in the same FC. I do this a lot, shifting items between my alts when I'm redecorating their apartments and FC rooms.
