Friend List: Notes system?

Lately I've seen people on my friends list change their names a lot and I'm sat about wondering, "Wait....who ARE these people?", orange names wandering about and greeting me like I'm supposed to recognize them, only they seem to expect me to know that they processed a name change.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a note system so we can take a note of who we originally knew these people as or other such details to avoid confusion?

I agree. It gets really annoying and difficult to follow who is who when people change their names more often than they change underwear.

Word, Excel, Peace of paper. Notepad. or don't randomly invite people who you party with a few times / randomly chatted with.
It's not like you get the phone number of every person IRL you talk to.


On that note, it's not a bad idea as long as it applies to blacklist too or at least a timestamp of the last time they were logged on.

I have people on my friend's list and blacklist I have no clue if they even play anymore.

Keep the friendlist for friend only. I mean... for people you actually talk to. Then you don't need notes.

Why do people assume you randomly send friend request to someone you saw in passing when this topic is brought up?
There are plenty of reasons why you would want someone on your FL, them being a likeable person you often chat with is only one of many and definitely not the only valid one. People who don't have their crafters leveled/ suitably geared to craft 3* reciped often have agreements with crafter to send them mats + surplus mats in exchange for crafts. You can't mail something to people not on your FL.
People who hop a lot into PF will inevitably meet people with whom they want to play again. LS are well and good but people react much better to tells.

Just because it's called "friend" list doesn't mean it must be reserved for the exclusive club of close friends. With CW whispering and mailing still limited, not having someone on the FL is often simply not an option.
And I see no reason why notes for the FL should not be added. It's a QoL change that will most likely only require a very small amount of resources.

I have friends on my friendlist who I use to be quite active with who (for one reason or another) had to quit or take an extended break.

It is not uncommon to run into them later to see that their name is changed to something I don't recognize let alone a race change. I'm not going to delete them because I haven't spoken to them in awhile.

Hell, one of them saw me just the other week and told me how good it was to see me again. And I stood their dumbfounded like an ass because I didn't know who they were.

"Hey.....you person I apparently know."

And guess what? That was because of their name change (and of course race as they use to be a potato now turned dragon boi). As soon as they told me it all came flooding back and I felt less awkward.

Which do nothing if they change their name, delete the character, or change servers which looks like a deleted character. Nothing worse than seeing multiple (Unable to Retrieve) placeholder names and trying to figure out who's missing. Notes would be a big help here.

I would love a note system. There are people who I used to be in FCs with who change names who I didn't talk a lot with or I did chat with but then they'd have gone and taken a break only to come back with a new name. Then they'll send me a tell and I'm like who is this person who seems to really know me? I think it would also help those with stalking problems. I almost never send out friend invites to people. It's normally an FC mate or someone I've become friends with or when we have the fish turn in for the summer event I'd be one of those who'd give the turn in for free so someone wanted to friend me because of my generosity.
