In all likelihood, the forum support folks don't have any information from the devs to share; even if they'd like to help, one assumes they're somewhat at the mercy of other teams in terms of having any help to give in the first place.

My problem with the forum support response is the statement that bluetooth controllers are not meant to work with FFXIV. It's a BS cop-out.
Hi guys.
Apparently, Xbox Series X controller still has a lot of issues on the Bluetooth connection.
It's not only FF14's problem.
I saw this forum below.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...40b25f?page=14
Intel's Bluetooth (embed on a motherboard) or Xbox official receiver are the only solution right now.
(A newer BT version (like 5.0) is not also working)
It looks like the controller connected via Bluetooth working as a DirectInput controller which FF14 does not support.
All I can say is I have played Cyberpunk, Fortnite, Hitman, Rocket League, Tony Hawk, Star Wars Fallen Order and a plethora of steam games and not one of them has this issue with my new controller.Hi guys.

Out of curiosity, since you mention 'Steam games', have you tried wrapping FFXIV in Steam (even if you don't use the Steam version)? If you have the Steam overlay up, and enable the Xbox Controller Configuration option, it should grab the controller, read it, and export a virtual controller (i.e., one generated entirely in software) that will show up as a generic Xbox controller that FFXIV will be able to use. In a very brief experiment I did some while back, that did correct the mapping issue (since Steam now recognizes and supports the Series X controller, even if FFXIV does not recognize it), but given that there's been hotfixes and tweaks since then, I don't know if that workaround still works. If it does still work, it's not an ideal solution, but it's still a solution that lets you use the controller wirelessly.
(I do know that using the Xbox Wireless Adapter instead of Bluetooth still works, as I tested that right here and now as I write this post; with that, it shows up not as a wireless controller but a wired USB one, since the wireless adapter is a USB device and that's what the system sees. And while irritating to buy an adapter, it does have the benefit of using the lower-latency proprietary protocol so the controller's marginally more responsive.)

Thank you, Packetdancer. This did work for me. I registered "ffxivboot64.exe" as a non-steam game and now in the game I can pull RT and LT at the same time!Out of curiosity, since you mention 'Steam games', have you tried wrapping FFXIV in Steam (even if you don't use the Steam version)? And to TheodoreWaffles,
I was just saying that the issue looks complex, maybe its not as simple as we think.
So please calm down.
Here is my assumption(just assumption, please don't take this seriously).
Xbox Series X controller had a problem that it was recognized as a directinput controller or something via bluetooth connection.
And the dev team was waiting for Microsoft to fix the problem (Since they say that they only support Xinput controller).
Maybe other platforms and games like Steam or Origin had already supported directinput controller or something, that's why the controller works fine with other games.
And if my assumption was true, there would be nothing they can say to us except very simple instruction like re-install or update driver.
Because saying "This is because Microsoft driver is malfunctioning." without their confirmation could lead them to court sometimes. (This kind of problem happens every engineering companies...)

Eh, I've been in this thread since the issue was reported 2 months ago. My calm with a service that I've paid monthly for twice since this issue popped up is kinda gone.Thank you, Packetdancer. They are having the same issue with ps5 controllers in another thread. It was outright being unprepared for a new controller design that was not a secret last minute release.Thank you, Packetdancer. What is funny about this whole thing (not sure if someone reported this, I didn't read the whole thread) is that the same issue happens to FFXI, but if you connect the controller via USB-C cable, it works fine, but if you disconnect it, it'll work fine! If you disconnect it on FFXIV, it won't work, sadly. You'll have to play it connected all the time.
Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Due to no response from the original poster, this thread will be moved to 'Closed Concerns.' If anyone is still having this particular problem, please create a new thread and we will assist you in any way we can.
