All I said was the Open World needs to contain valuable things for the player to covet. I said nothing about trains.
Not really the direction I was discussing. You could say the type of gameplay in a hard mode of a dungeon is covered by it's normal mode. Naturally you'd say well one is harder of similar content so they produce a different experience. So while you can draw some similarities it's not really what I was looking for. Both of these are covered by the map system. Biggest limiting factor for maps is the once per 18 hours gathering limit on Timeworn maps. If each map type had it's own time limit or if solo/group maps had separate time limits people doing daily maps would likely be quite common place.
The hot and cold mini game existing in some sense like a new gathering class next to DoL, while the chocographs acting just like in FFIX as a more fixed reward system ("you get X from Y" - they're not to be random), and archelogy is not even slightly represented by the treasure system we've now. Since the archelogy was meant to be a means to enjoy some of the lore of the game while also acting as a gathering like experience. It wasn't to be opening chest system.
So I can see the allusions to the first but the second is not related by any intent I had imagined.
Well, when valuable things exist, tons of people want them. Like hunts did, and fates in eureka.
They are a thing that happens naturally because everyone wants them.
If you put things people want in the open world, and it's battle content, there will be trains for them. This is unavoidable.
That is more a side effect of A ranks being on a 3 hour timer. With there only being 12 ShB A ranks every 3 hours people bunch up to get as many pie pieces as possible. If A ranks were on 1 hour timers trains would likely be less necessary and less problematic.
In Runescape, they had treasure hunts that were entirely solo endeavors and potentially had rare, best in game rewards at the end of them. No trains.Well, when valuable things exist, tons of people want them. Like hunts did, and fates in eureka.

Give current tomes in content that isn't zerged.
I like when I join the Hunt train but I so often miss it.
Ones you hit cap there isn't much reason to do open world content.
So give me 1 3 5 tomes bronze silver gold on doing fates as a 80.
Make older World Fate spawn more often. I've been trying to do foxy lady for 6 months and I've never seen it on. I even staked out the zone and did fates for 3 weeks. There is no reason why the older world fates shouldn't be happening every 6 ish hours at this point.
Give better rewards for doing open world content that takes 3+ months to do a verse a weekend.
Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
They can correct me if wrong but I believe the intent was to example open world content that doesn't produce issues you mentioned. About the server instability and such. Which is to say, if I understand them right, that you can absolutely add and have open world content without trains or server crashing.
If those treasure maps had best in game items and gear, then I have been completely ignorant of that. Could be bad luck. All the times I went with my FC for maps, the primary intent for everyone else was to get Gil which is almost a worthless currency now.
Well, it's not the servers that crash, it's people playing on toasters. They can correct me if wrong but I believe the intent was to example open world content that doesn't produce issues you mentioned. Most players are either on ps4s, or laptops that can barely play the game, in my experience.
Those are the people you see mass dcing in hunt trains and the like.
Also, to create "meaningful" open world content means it needs to be accessible, which means spawned things (like maps), or random things like hunts (that would get zerged cuz loot)
If you think they are going to give away the best obtainable gear from easy stuff like maps, yeah no.
And maps of savage difficulty I don't ever see happening.
And for solo maps, they'd have to design the fights for what, 17 different jobs? Otherwise you'd basically have a repeat of potd, with rdm being the only one able to clear.
