What steps could the devs take to better the Open World in XIV?

Shinies (collectables as in games like Rift and EQ2) with furniture/glam rewards hide some of the rarer ones in caves where epic monsters live.

So, after the Zerg-fest to get the furniture/glam rewards, the Open World can go back to being boring, yes?
