The only thing that this - might - decrease is the feel of being the only one wearing something, in case you play an underplayed race.
A surplus of options doesn’t actually increase creativity it only increases the factorial of options as an end result.
“Limitation breeds creativity” is a rather common saying.
Not only that, but taking the perspective of the viewer rather than the wearer, limited but multiple options increases the likelihood of seeing unique ensembles. If everyone could wear the flavour of the week, it takes away from anything special it had.

But of course there’s the main point I was trying to make that GrumbleBeard mostly covered already, is that the races themselves are unique. We aren’t all built the same, it’s not real life and we’re not all humans here. Designing clothes based on the physical proportions of the wearers will almost always result in something that looks great. This can be reflected in a sense, in real life as well. Having something tailor made to your measurements will result in a much better looking suit, dress, pants whatever. So if we start making something that has proper tail slots, or accentuates an Elezens natural height, things like that, we end up seeing much better looking attire. Let’s not forget that many races have historic lore and with them history and culture. I don’t wanna wash over all of that just so someone else can wear another version of the hempen gear.
