    Mentor Roulette Questions

    Hello!
I have some questions for those who are familiar with the mentor roulette

If you have mentor roulette unlocked:
    1) Do you queue for Mentor Roulette?
    2) If so, do you do it Daily?
    3) What content do you usually get when you queue for mentor roulette? (example answer: Sastasha lvl 15, Garuda Hard Mode, Void Ark, etc)

If you have mentor roulette unlocked and you do NOT queue for it, why not?

If you do not have mentor roulette:
    1) Do you have a Mentor Tag?
    2) Do you plan to work towards unlocking Mentor Roulette?
    3) Why or why not?

I am also curious what the Venn diagram looks like for a player who does ALL content AND queues for Mentor Roulette on a regular basis.

    For everyone:
Do you think the requirements to unlock Mentor Roulette are fair?

Why do I ask these questions?

I feel like there is a big disparity of requirements unlocking the Mentor tag and then going forward to unlock the Mentor Roulette. I also hear stories that people who do queue for Mentor Roulette usually get Sastasha level 15 dungeon. I wonder how other people feel about it.

    1)yes
2)no, but I also dont play daily.
3)guildhest are fairly common outside of that, pretty much everything is fairly even besides alliance raids which are quiet rare.

4E: fair sure, but EX are a bit much to have to teach in the short time limit and the game not letting new players know it requires more then just the basics unlike most other content.
I do get Sastasha semi often and its more common then higher lvl dungeons but not by a large margin. Well within expectations.

I try to do Mentor Roulette once a day, every day. Sometimes real-life prevents it, but that's may goal. As for what I get, I can't really say that there's been any kind of pattern. I've certainly gotten Sastashsa a time or two, but not excessively. I've seen all the other dungeons, as well. I do think that I see Ramuh Ex more than any other Ex trial, but I'm guessing that's because the win rate on that one is pretty low, so players wind up queueing for it multiple times...

I think they're fine, to be honest. Mentorship was never about being masters of the game, just about being willing to answer run-of-the-mill questions newbies might have. If you fulfill the requirements to become a Mentor, you've played the game enough to answer the majority of the questions newbies might ask.

I do think that Extreme Trials should be removed from mentor Roulette. Nothing in the requirements for being a Mentor prepares a Mentor to deal with level synced Ex trial fights.

That has been my experience with the roullette in the past as well, often will find yourself stuck in an ex party that is super old, but you basically have to teach a learning party how to clear it, if you dont time out.
Inherently, theres nothing wrong with that approach. But I feel like there should be mentor ranks, for which one could apply for after achieving some of the higher end stuff. Yeah I know ex's arent that hardcore, but synced with a party full of first timers, when the content is years old and could be done unsynced, This is just my opinion of the matter though, as per past experience.

    1. I have crafter mentor tag, if that counts
    2. Yup, just need to actually get into the last few guildhests and get a few more comms to have it unlocked
    3. I want it because it's totally random, sounds like something that could be fun now and then

I think they should maybe remove the EX fights from mentor roulette. I like helping new players clear content, but EX fights are better done through PF

    Let's see.

Yes, I am a Mentor, no, I do not intend on unlocking Mentor Roulette, mostly because that involves Byakko Ex, and anything having to deal with Byakko can go jump off a cliff. It's a fight that just goes too far for my fear of heights to easily dal with, and I would rather not have more opportunities, however uncommon, to run into it.

Hi there. I've done over 2000 mentor roulettes.

    1. I used to queue mentor roulette more than once per day. Now I queue it only if I need tomes or I am bored.
    3. It varied when I was doing it but it was mostly like this:

Healer : Story dungeons and trials with the occasional guildhest mixed in. Rarely got EX trials. Got a lot of level 50 MSQ dungeons

    DPS: Guildhests and EX trials.

I can't say for tank because I never ran any on tank.

I think the requirements are fair but I also agree with the above poster that Extreme roulettes should be taken out. It gets frustrating and old when you try to teach people old extreme fights and you get met with snarky remarks, people who don't listen, and people who are extremely (heh) rude to you for trying to help.

    1) Rarely queue for mentor roulette
    2) Not daily
    3) I usually get leveling roulette dungeons or a ex trial which usually ends up going the entire time.

I dont really queue for mentor roulette anymore due to bozja and no longer wanting the mount. I find I can help people much better by communicating in the novice network, or asking if anyone needs help or running leveling roulette or trial roulette.

You dont have to be a mentor to help people, however many people ask for help in the novice network and the fact that mentor status is required to have access is a big drawback to the system because there are people who arent sprouts who need/or would like help for particular content and sometime wait long times for party finder when help is almost instant in novice network.

I only have 500 at the moment.

    1) I do, yes,

    2) I average around 30 + a day.

    3) Guildhests. Though I tend to get Expert Roulette more so. I personally don't fancy Expert and tend to quit if I get them in succession - especially if there are no firs timers. I'd rather another DPS who purposefully queued for it get those rewards; as I'm not teaching anyone anything at that point. I doubt I can teach three Perfect Legends anything about a dungeon they've done for the umpteenth time.

    4) The requirements are fair. Exceedingly so. No criticisms there.

1: Yes, i have about 2500 Mentor roulettes cleared, i cant prove anything over the 2k though theres no other way to check. I still continue to run them.
2: No, but every other day mostly (i spam them very hard at the end of expansions ... when we get no content)
3: You get the odd "hi we are all new in a dungeon and could use someone who knows a bit of stuff" ... but thats maybe 10% of the runs,

30% are trials (mostly ex) ... mostly ARR in which 5-7 sprouts queued in and have no idea what happens and greatly misunderstand the spike in difficulty. I have won every single ARR Duty (yes even Ramuh though that happened only ONE time) HW seamed ok up to Thordan which was a very low rate, sephi ... hogg ... etc absolutely no go.

25% Are Dungeons, which can be pretty much everything, however it did favor 50 60 70 dungeons because the roulettes their included in have low rewards and they also give low exp.

25% Were Raids, 8 man ones. Nothing special really

10% Guildhest, ahhh the Golden Ticket ... their free and fast (i have lost the turtle one 3 times and wanted to cry in the fetal postion everytime)

24 raids were VERY, VERY rare. Maybe like 10 in total.

If the Mentor Roulette requirements are fair ... no. You prolly dont need 1500 commendations BUT you should have to do all the possible duties sync and w/o echo.

I usually do not queue and drop when i get something like AV ... BUT, if 7 sprouts queue into Ramuh you have 2 choices ... Text wall them for 10 min and hope it sticks, or you surrender do a couple wipes and vote abandon.

The Game needs to have a "this is actually gonna fk you over" warning, when we got Bozja we had a warning on how this works, put that on the first trial you get as "Extreme", back then we did not run blind into Garuda Ex and went "???" when we died 10 sec in, we also did not do that on Thordan ... we also did not do that on Titania.

If you want to do these fights blind you usually would join PF specific teams, as a DF team has only 1 Time slot and has to have the goal to clear, so unless everyone can carry their weight ... the run is doomed before it starts. So either add a button or remove EX from Mentor roulette, or simply don't be surprised to see your Mentor eye the exit the moment you zone into Ramuh Ex and say "anything i need to know?"

Mentor roulette is also "Filler Roulette", the party that waited the longest gets the mentor, i had plenty of Mentor Roulette runs in which i filled up a 3/4 expert roulette party ... why, did they need a mentor? Have 25% of members be a sprout to qualify for mentor roulette, and give the sprout a bonus exp % for having a mentor with them, this will give them a good mood about mentors.
