Do vegans play FFXIV?

Why is it so difficult for players to answer a simple question, or if they don’t like the question, simply move on?

I’m sure some people who consider themselves vegan play FFXIV. As this is just a game, they probably don’t take it as “serious” as they would with a real animal.

It is also possible some even role play as vegans and only eat vegan foods in the game. If such a thing even exists. I haven’t looked into it.

Because this is the most stupid thread I've seen so far: hi, I am vegan and no, we don't give a shit about digital animals being hurt. Digital animals are not real. They're just code programmed to look like animals. The way we kill them in-game does not reflect real practices.

Could it be argued that the use of leather and animal products in game perpetuates the normality of consuming them outside of game? Maybe. I think I'd have more of an issue if I had to take the animals to slaughter and had to go through that whole debacle. I don't really want to be reminded of RL practices while I'm playing.

But the aim of the game is to avoid and minimize harm, exploitation and killing of real animals and so there's no issue with anyone who is vegan killing virtual, non-real mobs in a virtual, non-real, fantasy world. I mean, I kill people in video games and you don't see me doing that irl.

Of course, if it turns out later that SE sacrifice a cow every time I slaughter a mob, I will be sure to revisit my stance

I mean, you're killing animals and wearing fur. Yes, it's only a game, but it could teach a lack of empathy towards animals in real life. And if vegans don't play this game, then they're not going to respond to this thread. So here's one for the silent majority... ahh.
