Do you all think that Mercydia will have a role in the future storylines?

I'm not the most lore knowledgeable, but the southern continent has me so intrigued. I can't believe that they would just relagate it's story to Azys Lla and the races that summoned the Warring Triad. But on the other side of the coin, I know that most of it is a wasteland so that might make it impossible to have future impacts on the story especially since the inhabitants are hostile to outsiders now. What do you all think of Mercydia? Do you think it'll have /any/ significance in the future?

At most I can maybe see it become a Eureka/Bozja-like side content. But I can't see it play a major in the story since most of its major civilizations were seemingly wiped out during their war with Allag and there only exists a few tribes from what we've been told. I remember there being an ALC quest where it talks about quicksilver being sought after by people in Meracydia, so there is some trade between Eorzea and Meracydia.

Perhaps it can get an amaurot like treatment, a powerful being with the same or greater strength then Emet recreates the civilizations with aether. Retreading a bit but it is possible to create structures completely through creation magics that may or may not last forever.

The land is even more of an enigma then the New World is, so it's hard to say just how much importance it could have in the future.

There are a lot of things leading back to Meracydia, so I'm hoping we go there within the next 2 expansions. There's just too much mystery and possible adventure calling to us.

I definitely want it to. Of all the future expansion possiiblities it's the one I want to see most.

This is possible. I think we need a good reason to go there, but definitely within possibility.

I feel that it when we do go there it may be a time travel X-pack to get to see the continent during it's hey day and maybe even fight the Allagans proper instead of just what they left behind. I obviously do not see it being 6.0 since we already had an isolated location for ShB, 6.0 will almost indefinitely be on the source during modern times, most likely either SHarlyan, Islabard, or most likely both. But i could see this time travel x-pack be a future expansion after the current season 1 arc is ended.

Not sure a time travel expansion is necessary when we have the echo. We can go there in modern times and see the past events that way. Which is why I believe that we need a good reason to go there.

And if you want to take it a step further, the Warring Triad quest seems to imply that our soul was there and fought in the war between The Allegans and Mercaydia.

I think that's more of a hint that the WoL is constantly reborn when Hydaelyn needs them most. Unable to stop all the other Calamities because...well, we didn't have enough power, compared to now. Ironically the Calamities worked against the Ascians as much as it helped them. Gets them closer to their goal, but also helps the greatest threat to their plans get stronger. Talk about a double-edged sword.
