Glamor restrictions, bozja, gear mixing, and so on

So in bozja, there is an NPC that wears a mix of aiming, casting, striking, and healing gear. Not that this is the first case, but it's an especially flagrant example.

Why can't we as players do the same?

I mean seriously. Identifying a job/role by its gear is so, so far out the window for NPCs - whoever makes them obviously doesn't give the slightest flip about mixing class gear not normally available. Or whatever reasoning is normally behind this. Why have we players got to have our hands tied?

And the dancing instructor in the DNC quests wears ALC slacks....

Its rather like triple triad. NPCs can have combos we can't have.

Weapons are very specific to job identity. That won't change.

Most gear, except for the artifact gear, isn't.

Considering I already have a glamour for my alt's GNB that looks very much like a formal evening gown and others prance around in swimwear and frog suits, being allowed to use cross-role gear for glamour would at least give us more combat related glamours as options.

I present you the Mch quest npc that has a one handed axe as well as a gun, for good measure hes glitchy (or was) as balls and glitches his axe while performing a shot.

Rosenthal isn't a machinist. His exact class/job(s) is never mentioned. He's only referred as a master of marksmanship with firearms. If his class is anything, it's pirate.

An axe/pistol hybrid seems like a likely weapon for a pirate class just as there are also gunblades, right?

That also appears to be a very specific model creation as opposed to someone waving an axe like it was a pistol or swinging a pistol like it's an axe, which is what others are proposing.

It doesn't change that the weapons for the classes/jobs available to player characters are very specific and SE is not going to allowing switching appearances between those weapons for glamour reasons.

Well, there's a difference. In triple triad (or unique battle abilities/weapon combos), those all affect "balance"/power budget and have a tangible effect on gameplay.

Glamor is appearance only. A player doesn't get stronger if they can access a larger pool of graphical assets.

It's to do with how glamour is programmed. I don't understand the ins and outs of it but apparently it runs off being able to equip the gear to the character, which for players is linked into class and equipment restrictions, and NPCs just work differently. They don't have an assigned class in the same way - most of them aren't even equipped with weapons, which is an impossibility for a player.

Annoying as it is for us to see combinations we can't use, the character designers aren't going to arbitrarily stick to player-achievable glamours if they don't have to.

Also I t's nothing to do with Bozja. The NPCs mixing gear are everywhere.
