But I'll extend this to battle-only mentors.

The ones with the big burger king crown who have both are the ones to listen to.
    not even then.
I've got both but lord above if a new crafter asked me for input i'd say "idk. I don't even craft right, i max quality before progress. IDK how folks do it."

I'd say the "real" mentors are the ones who'll say "I don't know but I can ask around and see if anyone i know can help." You don't even need the crown for that.

Because that's what that is. Mostly.
Yeah, that's why I said "something akin to expert crafting"; I meant it in terms of the Ishgardian high-tier "expect crafts", not just in abstract. (I recognize the term's a little generic, alas, so that was probably not clear.)

However, it is actually possible to macro the expert crafts for the Restoration, believe it or not; you won't get to the top tier consistently, but you'll get enough to be able to turn them in. So I think anything for an actual crafting mentor "trial" or certification test would need to actually be a bit harder/more randomized, so that it couldn't just be boiled down and macroed in a consistently-workable manner.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

maybe they should just make a global chat already so people don't need to pretend to be a crafting mentor. anyone else roll their eyes when they see a crafting mentor talk? I saw one yesterday saying that Hrothgars are cute and I almost vomited.
Some crafting mentors know what they are talking about, some don't. Just like with combat mentors.
Becoming a mentor only means you spent a lot of time in the game, not that you know anything.
Rolling of eyes I reseve for trolls.

When the Troll post is right lol, reminds me of my brother who did all his Crafters 1>20 pressing only standard synthesis and 20 > 80 with Ishgard and craft macros i calculated for him. Tell you what hes a Mentor lol ... well he qualifies. Theres no quality check on Crafter boys, you can prolly push the entire thing from unlocking to Mentor in a week.

Meanwhile in NN they pretend "mentor is mentor" so they can answer everything they want, often giving half answers or straight wrong ones, if you correct them ... more often then not i hear "well im just a trade mentor" so yea ... how about we get 2 channels one for crafters one for pve. 70+% of NN is full of crafter Mentors while maybe 10% of questions relate to Crafting.

Kinda difficult to teach people proper ways to craft when up until level 66 it’s all hasty touch unless you have enough spare cp to sub them out for basic touches, and then it’s manipulation and prudent touch until 72, then it’s preparatory touch your way to victory. Crafting doesn’t get “engaging” until max level crafts when there are multiple ways one can execute a craft, though some more optimal than others.

I wear my crafter crown, I help newer crafters get gear, figure out basic rotations, introduce them to helpful tools like teamcraft and garland tools, the main issue is the only source of decent IQ stack building is via hasty touch at low levels, and it has a 50% success rate (60% with a trait, I forget if it’s 60% by default now) with no way to mitigate that anymore since steady hand is gone. Low level crafting is just pain even if you’re stacking cp since it’s 18 cp just to guarantee a touch hits.

I mean.. Crafting isn't really a that complicated that you can't google the answer is you need. Im not sure why you need help from and mentor tbh..Quick alt tab and Google. Combat mentors don't necessarily know raids and even if they do the video guide would be way more informed. Anytime I had a crafting question google was able to resolve it.

Rotation is gear and a macro so not really sure what the questions would be... Also the skills have tool tips you can figure out how to click the buttons just playing around if you don't wanna macro it for whatever reason. Otherwise you macro the best macro you skill allows and trade in or buy or craft your gear to craft with. Pretty self explanatory.

I actually agree OP. Somehow im a pvp mentor and i couldnt win a fight one on one in pvp to save my life. I also dont even do it, since SB when they decoupled completely from the pve rotation....but there it is....pvp mentor. Could probably use some tweaking on what qualifies for what tbh.
