To add to this, you're given a black chocobo in HW as well, even though you can dye your companion black. Makes sense to me since red, black and yellow chocobos are different in nature usually.Dying your chocobo isn't exactly the same. Your chocobo will still have its beak coloured yellow before it transitions into the plumage colour, and lighter leg scales. Red Comet, like the other red chocobo mobs you run into in the Ivalice quests and in Rabanastre, has darker leg scales and a completely red beak, no doubt bathed in the blood of his enemies.
I would like me a genuine murder-kweh, blood-red beak and all. <3
