Rescue Suggestion

I will close with this and move on. I gave a point of view from a lower level player, something I do have every right to portray. I pay the same monthly sub that you do. For future reference, vote kick on a healer who does that (or is generally a very bad player). If you can't dismiss them, leave the duty and then go to social > contacts > and then black list her. You'll never have to be in a party with them again. You might even want to consider reporting them for harassment.



People really need to stop abusing Rescue. Fortunately, I've mostly seen it be used really well (and it's saved me a number of times). But if it continues to be abused (and there have been reports of abuse since it came out), it's probably a skill that needs to be removed. Unfortunately, that would ruin it for the good healers who actually use it well, but there's really no other way to stop it?

Ignoring the idea of vote kicking because that's certainly not the proper way to respond I'd just like to correct the notion that blacklisting someone will keep you from partying with them again.

Adding someone to your blacklist will prevent you from seeing them in chat as well as prevent them from joining your PF groups - it has zero impact on whether or not you'll be placed with them in matchmaking content.

Players wearing the mentor crown are held to far higher standards of behavior by the GMs than those not wearing it, and the sooner something is done about the toxic mentors (and rescuing a tank into more mobs once they've planned, especially after saying something about it in chat is toxic), the better for the game in general.

This is, yet again, very much not true.

Almost no one is held to any standards of decorum right now and there is definitely no extra vitriol reserved for mentors by the moderation team. If you aren't directly insulting another player or purposefully sabotaging a run/refusing to participate chances are you won't even recieve any communication from a GM.

To be fair if you have only gotten through ARR then you have not really played the game yet and is likely why this hasn't been your experience so far. Level 15-49 dungeons are considered more as learning dungeons from a community pov, where you are allowed to be a lot more slow to compensate for not having a grasp on your abilities or role yet. But once you hit level 50 everything changes and there is a basic level of competency that people will expect from you.

Now, that being said I am not excusing the healers actions. Pulling you with rescue is a d- move, esp if you were pulling multiple groups already. If you are pulling single packs, however, or even 3 small packs of 1 or 2, then you are going to get some feedback from your group more often than not and not everyone gives that feedback in a productive way.

We, however, are also not getting both sides of the story. I have been playing this game since launch and have never once been trolled by rescue and no one else I know has been trolled with it. It's just something that pops up now and then here on the forums. The times I have been rescued has been proper. I sometimes got upset because I know my own timing and where I can clip my casts until the last moment to still dodge so I feel I was trolled at first, but looking back moments later I understood why it was used from the healer's pov. I also, as a healer, will rescue ppl into aoe heal range if they are standing way over on the other side of the arena, and if they go back, I simply refuse to heal them. So the ability itself does not need a rework just because a couple bad apples trolled with it a couple times.

Most ppl in this game are pretty great, so fixating on one bad experience, one time in a dungeon and thinking that an entire skill needs to be reworked cause of one experience is not helpful and is elitest in it's own way. It makes you look more like the player meme than the actual players we often encounter, which are fairly good ppl. I am a firm believer that if you have an issue with this community, it's not the community that is the problem.

Details aside... the healer was in the wrong and should've been kicked. There's a correct way and a incorrect way to deal with people. That healer was abusing a move in the incorrect way. This is literally why people can't have nice things and if the move is changed it'll be people like this healer's fault.

Right now there are very few full pulls which pose any threat to a group that's like... functionally awake? You need to be bad to wipe to most other pulls, barring connectivity issues or some other outside influence.

That's true for HW and later, but ARR dungeons aren't designed with full pulls in mind. They have very few walls blocking progress and actually pulling boss to boss is really risky. An excellent tank and healer may be able to do it, but I've seen it result in a wipe more often than not.

Then there's the very early dungeons where you may not even have appreciable AoE damage depending on what classes you get. NIN lacks spammable AoE as high as Sarn.

As for Rescue, I used it today to pull my tank out of flames on the second boss of Copied Factory. Twice. They even thanked me for it.

I remember WHM being considered meta for speedrunning dungeons precisely because it could abuse Holy to get through those pulls with absolutely zero issues. And SCH and AST both have Essential Dignity and Lustrate up for every pull at that level. Sure you’re gonna struggle a little bit if you don’t fully gear yourself using MS roulette but even in garbage level 45 gear Wanderer’s palace, the first level 50 cap dungeon, is more than doable with Bene II and Aldo spam. Always be casting and all that.
