Nah, TP made melee AoE very prohibitive, as it drained your TP like nothing. If you had 2 melee in your dungeon run and they weren't geared like heck and knew their oGCDs, it was useless to do large pulls. Even BRD and MCH had trouble keeping up, even WITH Tactician. TP also made Skill Speed worse than useless, as more SkSpeed would just make your TP run out faster (that was the meme in HW, throw an arrow on the MNK and watch them cry because their TP goes down the drain).

Now SkSpeed is at a somewhat-healthy place (SOMEWHAT), as you only need to worry about it clipping your oGCDs. MP is a different beast, as it makes caster gameplay a lot more punishing. Honestly, I wish physical roles had Mana Shift or Healers/Casters got Osmose. My MP goes down the drain raising 6 people in CLL...
