In game theory we learned that cool down effects are a band-aid solution and don't address the real issues with the game play. I never did play Diablo but I remember how Diablo was used as an example if that makes sense to anyone. I don't think that they can fundamentally change the game mechanics this late in the game either so I think both MP and cooldowns are here to stay. They might not be present in their next iteration of FFMMO depending on their approach. You don't want instant attacks all the time but you also don't want the game to feel too slow (RP-based MMO) or too fast (slasher MMO). They have the resources to experiment though, good luck to them! lol
