    Targeting question

How do I prevent myself from targeting NPCs during battle? I have my target filter (controller) set to “enemies” but it will still target friendly NPCs who are in the middle of the battle. The only thing so have selected in the settings for the “enemies” filter are All Enemies, Aggroing Enemies, and Duty-specific Enemies

Hold R2 and tap L1 to cycle trough the enemies, or hold L2 and tap R1 for the other direction.

I didn’t even know that was a way to target. Is that more efficient than simply using the right and left d-pad with filters?

Much for efficient because it bypasses allies.

It only targets enemies, no filters needed. And since you are holding R2 or L2 anyway the whole time for using your skills, this method goes easy from the hand. Of course personal preference like everything...

You can also hold L1 and use up and down on the D-Pad to go through the enemy list. A bit clunky, but sometimes usefull.

i just press up or down on the d pad for allies, no L1/2 or R1/2 needed. imo, its probably the best way, once you get used to it its easy to cycle through the list.

edit: oh i misread, yeah if you wanna target enemies only you press L1 and up or down on dpad to cycle through enmity list

Yeah tried to target with that combo and it just doesn’t work for me. Maybe I’m just used to the d-pad to target, but I also naturally only keep my index fingers on the L2R2 triggers and moving both of them to the opposite trigger or bumper if I have one trigger/bumper pressed and need to do the other and then back to the other trigger/bumper for my rotation takes way longer than a quick d pad press of the thumb.

So how come then I’m having the issue I’m having in the OP? If the d pad is supposed to be used with filters how come my enemy filters are still targeting friendly NPCs?

did you try what i said? holding L1 and using the d-pad to scroll through? you press up and down, not left to right. it only works in combat though, so if your issue is in bozja where theres a ton of allied npcs then i have a bit trouble too. i just set mine to a cone and get close to the mob im trying to target
