Why even give blm/smn mp if theyre practically infinite?

Idk much about redmage but its near impossible for smn to run out of mp. And if you need to raise more than 3 times in a row as smn, thats probly a wipe anyway

BLM's MP is a huge part of their gameplay. The point of MP for a BLM is to throttle their Fire phase. So, it's kind of silly to include them in this discussion.

SMN can run out of MP if they're not paying attention and you can easily rez 2-3 times (or be rezzed once) and be in a "not so good" state whenever it comes to MP in larger group content, same with RDM.

They don't remove because MP is an iconic FF stat from casters in general...

All of the casters interact with MP in a different way:
    - Healers for obvious healing management
    - RDM and SMN to hinder how many rezzing /Vercuring they can provide (but yet you can run into an uncommon MP shortage in very few other situations)
    - BLM treats MP basically as a job gauge with its unique MP interaction
    - BLU's MP only to hinder how many White Winds you can spam

Cause if BLM has no mana gauge, they're just gonna be in Fire phase forever

It would not only be fire phase forever, it would reduce the rotation to one single button - Despair.

Without MP, a Summoner/RDM could raise without limits.
So you could build strategies that involves a summoner/RDM constantly raising and not dpsing at all.

With those kind of strategies, you could prog with no limits as long as no raidwide mechanics are met.
    Also Eternal Fire BLM.

If you removed MP, the game would be all broken and casters would be Overwhelming.
    Wait...

BLM isn't part of any infinite MP conversation because their MP is quite literally a nitro tank. SMN is better compared to RDM and the healers as it is basically rezzes that blows through their MP. In the case of RDM and the healers, sustained AoE and GCD heals will also do this.

I will say that SMN has a ton of functionality outside of its MP resource. Probably the highest out of all the casters, but many abilities such as the demi summons basic attacks are tied to GCDs that use MP. This doesn't necessarily put a strain on their MP, but it does create a demand for it. This makes them every bit as screwed if they get KOd or do go OoM and Lucid or other means of MP restore are not available.

It's important for all casters to manage their MP in a way that sustains the finite resource that is MP. SMNs, and on the healing side WHM have a much easier time doing this because of abilities within their kits.

MP acts in a slightly different way to other FF games.
It's not meant to limited the amount of spells you can cast, because the gameplay rotation demands that you never stop casting spells.
Instead, it specifically restricts your number of Raises, and penalises you for KO. That's it.
