Legitimate reasons why many of you do NOT like Gear Swapping

Gear Swapping is common in RPGs.

I need a logically sound argument as to why you do not want gear swapping.

Someone said, "it promotes elitism".

I say gear swapping is beneficial for SE, the worlds' economies, and game play.


BTW Mages can gear swap, melee can't. You have a flaw SE. Fix it and give us gear swapping in ACTIVE mode.

Video Games promote Elitism, and that is all there is to it.

Shooters aim for Elitism.
MMO's.
Racing.
Etc, Etc.

Crying about elitism in a video game is just nonsense.

What is the point of playing games? To win.

I liked gear-swapping. It crated a vast array of varied options that I could utilize in any given fight. For instance I had my Damage reduce set, Haste for spellcasting, and elemental sets depending on which mob I was fighting. I could adapt to any sitation thrown at me. What is wrong with that?

I don't play games to be better than anyone, I disagree so strongly with people who play for that reason that i'd punch them through the intraweb if i could.

I'm fine withOUT gear swapping, just make it so mages can't either. If you have any enmity, you can't swap. That'd be fine.

It's a hassle plain and simple. Why add something that would be cumbersome, why not ask for a feature that would have the same benefits without the annoyance of swapping out gear? It's just one more button to push, step to go over that doesn't need to be around and should not be encouraged from a development point of view. Please think of something more creative and/or seamless.

This is not my style of play as I'm very casual so excuse the ignorance but should not the materia system help with this?

Just because people outperform you, they are douchebags?

I am not one to say anything deragatory to anyone regarding my successes. But I play to be better than the rest, and instantly I'm labaled a "douchebag" because I'm above you in terms on overall successes in a game?

This is another good point, I hated having to lug around certain boots or wands/staves just for their stats in XI. Hugh... Let me attach these stats to something else, that would be nice.

Instead of gear-swapping which causes your character to blink (the prime culprit of complaint), why not just allow each slot a capped number of materia slots which can be virtually swapped out? Instead of melding materia to the item, just allow the materia itself to hold the value.

1.) Your thread title is sort of an oxymoron. You ask people to give you legitimate reasons for how they feel. Asking someone to justify why they like something is silly.

2.) Assuming you meant to ask why people don't think gear swapping during battle should be part of the game : For no other reason than the fact that it gives SE an excuse to flood my inventory with highly situational gear that's only useful .382% of the time, but I would be considered "gimped" without. Inventory consuming elitism is not something I want to see in another SE MMO.
