What if you could bring over a feature from final fantasy 11 or any other for game?

I have a thread where you are given a job to add a new feature. Now you are given a job to look at past and existing (but not games currently in development) and take one feature, what ever it is, class, race, monster, story element, dungeon - what ever and then add it to this game.

    What would it be?

For example, we have ivalice, but what about a whole campaign set in the world of ivalice? It brings in the story of tactics, and since ivalice is in our world, it wouldn’t be far fetched. For example we could set a campaign after we finish the ascians, to explore, rebuild or reclaim this territory from the empire.

There’s chance for exploration, plus we get a whole campaign set in this world.

Now this depends on my lore and the ivalice raid we had, being correct that some aspect of, if not the whole world of, ivalice is accessible from our world.

    You’re turn.

If I could pull from any game, I would pull from Runescape. It take tremendous amount of xp, time and a few specific resources to level up a crafting or gathering skill, which made the talent and the resources needed to level up valuable. This drove the economy in Runescape. It's an economy that makes more sense to me then the FFXIV economy where crafting is super easy and yet filled with far too many materials that aren't terribly valuable cluttering up so much inventory space. I hate inventory management, I'd strongly prefer an economy that had far fewer separate materials and materials that were also more valuable and harder to obtain in bulk. I would also greatly increase the level cap or craft gear ilvl requirements for crafting so that it took real time investment or material investment to turn a profit.

Honestly, I'd bring over the classes from FFXI. I've not played it, but I'm impressed by how many classes it has. Puppetmaster and Beastmaster, in particular.

I'd bring back Mog Houses. FFXI had instanced housing right from the start, teehee! Houses with inventory moogles in them for everyone!

Beyond that, I'd bring back the craft, Bonecraft. I'd also bring in waaaaay more of the armor sets from FFXI. A lot of the weapon models too. Gimme dat Organics.

From FFXI, I would like to see FFXIV's take on FFXI's Campaign Battle...

Currently Bozja sort of feels "a little like" Campaign Battle but it mostly feels "one-sided" as once you've gained access to the entire area there isn't any risk of losing access to the area based on any "Garlean successfull counter-attacks" to the outposts in the area.

I would like to see an area where it is active server wide where we can control the field with a weekly tally that determines the locations of all outposts as well as nation rank such as which member of the Eorzea Alliance has control over the field.

Success in battles could also rank the player up in the grand company.

I would also like to see content become available for crafters to reinforce player captured outposts

I think this could be pretty interesting and something fun to do.

The depth and complexity that the gear system of the game added, but on the condition that Square stops killing every interesting result from it.

Vehicle mechanics from WoW. Some of the best moments in WoW utilized them. The entire first encounter of Ulduar where you assault the front gates using vehicles, with the first boss fight being vehicle only. Or the gunship battle in ICC, or the beginning of MoP where you are bombing Horde bases with a Gyrocopter or shooting down Alliance soldiers from your machine gun on an airship.

GW2 did something somewhat similar with their Silverwastes/Dragon's Stand zones. The main content of each zone is about a war between the players and NPCs (ie, the Pact, the alliance of nations in GW2) vs an enemy faction of mobs (ie the forces of the evil dragon Mordremoth). The goal of the zone is to push towards the enemy's base and eventually kill a world boss. So players have to push with NPC soldiers to capture outposts, protect those outposts from being retaken by the enemy mobs, escort supply caravans to the outposts, upgrade those outposts, train NPC soldiers for the next push to the next outpost down the line, etc. Eventually you have taken almost the entire map and all of the Pact forces assault the enemy stronghold at the end of the map, with multiple teams at different places doing different things and it's all coordinated. Eventually you take the stronghold and kill the final boss and you get showered with loot and stuff. And then the map resets. This entire cycle takes place over the course of 2 to 3 hours.

The content design of the maps is great. You really feel like you are a part of this huge military operation fighting against the vast forces of evil. It feels ultra satisfying to push all the way to the end and win. But it's not very immersive when the map resets and you have to retake the map and kill the boss again. It feels gamey. I'm not sure how to reconcile the story of you pushing onwards vs the MMO gameplay of repeatable content that you're supposed to grind for a long time.
