They are more active in terms of deleting threads or trying to keep the forums more organized and banning people. In terms of engagement it's more during Live Letter than anything really.

Would be nice but simple moderation would be even better and neither seem to be on their agenda.
They could still moderate. Get rid of troublesome posters, give warnings, just watch for problematic posters in general.
Do you mean they're more active in like deleting/merging threads and such, or more in terms of giving feedback to/from the dev team?
"We want bunny suits for guys!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Ishgard housing!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Viera!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Cloud's motorcycle!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Blue Mage!"-- OK! ✅
"We want the ability to earn past Feast rewards!" - HAHA no that's sacred.
Well if you're like me and saw a certain thread late last night east coast wise that would have definitely caused drama. It was deleted by the time I logged into the forums this morning around 8/9am est. So, I have assume there is some moderation? Just not as much as we'd expect I guess?
Also isn't most of the mods community reps? If so that also might be one reason why the JP forums see more action as Foxicon aka the silver haired guy who sits next to Yoshida in all of the LLs is a Jp community rep.
I know some threads receive attention if they hit a certain number of 'likes'. I suppose we'll see if this meets the criteria...
I have criticized forum moderation for a long time, but I never wanted them to be seemingly completely absent and not do anything ever! We need actual community representatives around here, actually moderating. The forums recently have become quite bloated with things that I'd say are most definitely against the ToS/forum guidelines, and I am not seeing much (if anything) being done about it! A recent example of what I'd like to see our community reps doing, here:

They stepped in when a thread was getting out of hand, and made a statement at the same time. I wish they would do this again, and more often.

That's nifty and helpful of them.We need actual community representatives around here, actually moderating. [...] A recent example of what I'd like to see our community reps doing, here:

Is this something they used to do more?
I'm not sure, In the years I've been using the forums I haven't seen this as a regular occurrence. That was quite a unique appearance by our community reps, but I think it needs to happen much more often. If they had a presence such as this, I don't think this forum would get as out of hand as it is now.
