Impossible to play as a new player

It is actually impossible to play as a new player. As an unranked player, it's a miracle if I can even find a match. If I do hit the jackpot after a few hours+ wait and find a match I end up with an afk player or if one person dies one of my teammates decides to afk/leave. People say the queues get better after you leave silver... how am I even supposed to get to bronze let alone silver with these queue times??? I now understand why the community will never grow past the small percentage of players that currently play. I really do love the few matches that I can play, sad I just can't play more.

I know some people, one of them multi Rank 1 in the Feast, who quitted the game entirely while Stormblood was still somewhat fresh. Never seen them since then.

S14 we actually had that for a few weeks, S15 started the same way too. It popped like that back then because it was new. Happened in S14 because cute new mount and the fact it had been over half a year since the previous season, and the mode was new to a lot of people who wanted to try it; bearing in mind S14 started over the christmas holidays too so the fact people were queueing up at like 5am on christmas day was crazy.

Wish I knew which R1 you were on about though, Twiss and Kuji are still around for tournaments; and I would believe they still play the game actively. Taru is still around and Acid was around throughout stormblood, Ash is still around too (even though not a multi r1 and technically, not really an R1 because the actual R1 for his season transferred off to let him have it). Realistically outside of JP that leaves Nex Cross and Fatalis. Fatalis still plays, albeit now does things I can't talk about on these boards without being banned lol; and Nex Cross still plays the game for it's normal content.

Back when we had 8-man feast, different maps, no quick-chat, abilities that made sense.

If you are unable to reach Gold by 3rd week, you are pretty have no chance I believed.

Frontlines can consistently fill huge, 72-player instances at around 5-10 minutes. It can be faster than the PvE 24-man raids at times. The Feast's problem is that it doesn't have any casual appeal or component to it. There's no casual fanbase to slice a hardcore portion from, so all you're left with is a small, standalone fan base of hardcore players. It's not like PvE where the hardcore raids are a direct evolution of the normal raids. Feast is standalone.

Feast is only 4-man so each player takes a greater portion of responsibility for winning or losing compared to frontlines. I think 8-man Feast should return at least as training matches so people can ease into the mode. We could use some new maps and such as well. Feast can't survive solely on hardcore players, tbh. More hardcore players evolve from a casual base.

Stormblood changes may have had an impact on the already tiny hardcore fanbase but frontline queues have never been as consistent as post Stormblood, sans Garo.

24-player frontlines were a thing mostly because the queue often struggled to fill 72 man frontlines in Heavensward and the algorithm redirected to 24 players.

1) Why do people keep suggesting this without thinking first. The top ranks actually play, the only time they don't is because of customs or they want a break. Why should people be forced into poor match quality? That is ridiculous and against what this game's ethos is. NA isn't dead because of no decay, it's dead because your community is a cesspool of throwing, wintrading and boosting by a small minority that punishes the many who play within the rules. Primal being the worst case of this whilst also ironically being the most active data center. Now personally I don't care; but the vast majority of the PvP community do and won't play. Also, people would just play the bare minimum to avoid decay, and like I said, most vets play once a week orso anyway. This doesn't fix the fundemental activity issue which is that players below Platinum cannot get games, and this will change nothing for that.

2) This tbh.

3) Last time I played in ACES it took PStar 4 hours to have us play 2 matches, in Pacific timezone. Crystal LP scrims are really good if they still run; but I find Aces to be a waste of time just because it's really disorganised.
