Im just gonna give an F to yoshi-p for the biggest missing the point ive ever seen from someone using his words.

I think we all understand the sentiment and while it's certainly endearing, YoshiP should realize that this philosophy can be achieved on multiple levels. Not just the one, which is currently casual.I'm not making decisions when it comes to making crafting/gathering easier, Yoship is. I just happen to agree with him.
I brought up their attempts to give the "hardcore" doh/dol players something to do like Ishgard firmament rankings, relics, etc.
The overarching point, which seems to have flown right over your head, was that every time they make a particular system easier it's done under the philosophy that people have a life outside of the game to spend it with family and other activities, as Yoship explains.
We're not asking to put our lives aside for the sake of the game.
What I think we would appreciate is variation in the content given to us.
Give us 4 man hard dungeons that acknowledges that we have a brain and challenges one to think and be strategic.
Make a different tier of treasure maps with mobs that spawn that have enemies from 100+PoTD or 80+HoH like mechanics.
We have Ultimates that are essentially timeless and current because it scales to our ilvl. Why not give us this option to scale ilvls in other content and actually make it hard ?
How I see it is that YoshiP fears that just because something has just that extra hit of difficulty, the casual majority will instantly feel threatened. Or that if he does add an option of difficulty, then casual players will cry that they're being excluded when in fact that's not what it is. Keep what is already there. The baseline. Simply allow for "above and beyond" like options onto the baseline content for those who desire the challenge. To me, it's not about a title or being able to boast. It's about the choice of experience.
It's disheartening that nowadays I log in wanting to raid, but tired of raids, and with no other venue to have the same type of challenge. The same goes for crafting. I never cared to make money and never became a crafter to make money. I just wanted an experience that actually made me feel like "I put in the work and it was fun as hell". It's all just trivial now.
Do they even read our feedback in the English Forums? I don't think they really do.
As much as I want to believe they do.

Also regarding about Egos, etc. earlier in this thread.
Its not really about that, but wanting to leave our mark in a MMORPG even if we're destined to fade away over time and we encourage others to achieve that as well.
That has been a constant with most MMORPGs, and heck some players go down the infamous route and they're still remembered to this day in some MMOs.
It gives a bit of spice to the game world, and something to talk about.
One currently fading memory was in Ultima Online where some infamous player actually defeated Lord British because he forgot to turn on his Admin. Powers; some people still remember it, but it is a fading memory.
Its stuff like that is what makes MMOs memorable sometimes.

Back in SB didn't they nerf Shinryu EX BEFORE it was even released because casual players complained about normal version being too hard ? I think He is already showing what you're saying

I like the crafting nerfs. I myself don't craft cuz I find it boring, but making crafting easier is great for the entire community. I rely on crafters for raid consumables so the more crafters there are, the better it is for players like myself.
What? If you're "having a life" then there is definitely more than enough content to go through. Absolutely. If your argument is "but I'm not interested", then you should, as you love to say that yoshi says, unsub. Hey, maybe the people who desire challenge aren't interested in content that got casualized?I'm not making decisions when it comes to making crafting/gathering easier, Yoship is. I just happen to agree with him.

And you guys are the ones making the decisions, if it turns out that things are being casualized after being complained about. There is absolutely zero chance they'd nerf anything if people didn't complain. Hell, I always found story solo instances to be a bore, literally pressing 1 button over and over again, you can stand in aoes and not die. Yet they still had to add "Easy" and "Very Easy" options.
Essentially content is being taken away from players who enjoy a challenge, while "people with a life" have more than they'll ever burn through if they so have a life. I know this because I have a friend that has played 8hrs every day since arr, and he still has things to do like fishing log etc.
I also happen to know raiders who work 9/5 and play 4hrs total per week and clears ultimates. I consider that having a life honestly. And they want more stuff to do.
I also don't know a single crafter or gatherer person who enjoyed ishgard firmament rankings. They said it's literally just a seasonal grind where you compete against bots. They didn't have to build up to master the rotations. They just grind a million items the same way crafting is casualized already.
You should maybe play the game's content or talk to other people before you have an opinion on these things. Because it really doesn't seem like you played the game if you think there isn't enough content for "casuals with a life".
Exactly my point. Crafting is now designed for people who don't even like crafting or want easy items. It's no longer designed for the people who enjoyed it. Designing content mainly for the people who dislike that content and shoving the fans aside is a terrible way to make a game.
I like nowdays crafting because it's more beginner friendly, easier to figure out, and doesn't require me to spend all my time trying to craft what I need. I do not want to be the best crafter, I just like to relax, creating some things or meditatively gathering materials for crafting. It's good that this process has become more understandable and enjoyable now.
They recently said they changed it to be easier to start, but now going to add back the complicated high end crafting stuff. great!I like nowdays crafting because it's more beginner friendly, easier to figure out, and doesn't require me to spend all my time trying to craft what I need. The only difficutly changes mentioned at least during the last live letter was making expert recipes harder. They are also making adjustments to lesser use crafting actions. Going to take the opporunity to drop this link to a thread that was made at the start of this year, it addresses crafting difficulty and talks about some ideas that were thrown around. https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-Megathread%29
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
