    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the new AST card system is better. More boring for sure, but better. When half of your cards are far too situational you have an issue.

    Balance: the card everyone wanted
    Bole: too situational to make proper use of
    Arrow: most jobs don’t want speed, throws off rotations/timing
    Spear: Cooldown reduction was useless due to throwing off timing for reopeners, also wasn’t significant enough (see old whm lilies) change to crit was good but the duration was never put in line with other buff cards
    Spire: only useful on a phys dps that died, royal road fodder. Also needed some degree of change when tp got removed
    Ewer: semi useful if a healer died or had poor mp management, also royal road fodder

    To reiterate, I do miss the lore and class fantasy behind old ast, I do not want the old card system back though. Not saying that we don’t have issues still (sleeve draw change was a nerf, shouldn’t be a 3 minute cooldown for what it does) but the card system is better now. Much more boring, but better due to every card always being useful in some capacity.

    I'm not sure to understand...
    You casted a single target shield on 8 different players instead of using an aoe shield because you had neutral sect to get the maximum out of it...
    You spent 20seconds shielding people for an effect similar to what you could have done in 2.5s...

    I mean you could have casted aspected Helios and gone afk for 17.5s at tjis rate... same result with more mana in the end.

    So i know nobody really cares about dungeons but it still was immensely baffling to me, I went to do antitower as a healer for the relics ofc, Now i know its a level 60 dungeon and its powercreeped BUT , i did the entire dungeon without throwing a single heal, pet did embraces but still, not a single one and the tank didnt even dip below 50%. This is ridiculous i sat there on my ass just casting broil/war and energy drain with the occasional bio. Its just why? why is this shit possible.

    That's partially lack of necessary healing and partially the problem of no item level sync. Almost every expansion level-cap-but-still-early-patch content suffers from this, because you enter the content synced to an item level like...50-100 higher than maximum on release. See also: Labyrinth of the Ancients, Void Ark, etc.

    Antitower was the point where I quit healing back in HW and switched to tank. You already had nothing to heal back then, and because of the accuracy caps I could not even dps properly (no, I had no accuracy melds). So I quit healing and never looked back.

    You dont even need to be on SCH for this to work in Antitower. It's one if the most obvious instances of power creep in the game, up there with Xephatol.

    There's also the issue of potency / traits adjustment going from SB to ShB.
    I started progging UwU back in SB and completed it in ShB. We had more HP, dps and healing than during SB (albeit, minimal, but the difference was noticeable)
    So if you add this small scaling adjustment to the level and gear gap... What you experienced makes sense (especially that levels have a BIG impact on damage taken )

    I haven't touched my ast globe since shb (apart from a wedding) and I haven't used my whm stick since early 5.2. Sch is currently on 3 years since I wasn't fond of the playstyle. Its fairly close to word for word my thoughts.
    Even if we did get a 4th healer, if its still "pure healer" then I wouldn't touch that apart from the unlock quest. If any healer was reverted to being something fun and versatile (2.0 whm, 3.0 sch either for ast) then I would hop on it instantly and then proceed to flail for half an hour over my glams before hopping into DF and having fun healing again.

    I still see about 90% of healers in the DF and PF as whm's,, and sch's seem extinct. I usually see Astro's now as high end raiders and no "levelling" players. Bit of a change from when shb as it was ast's that were extinct and sch's were there on the occasion
    oh and yes, its still healer in need most of the time and when its tank in need and I queue as gnb, it takes a few minutes whereas if i swap to whm I would bet all my gil it would be under 10 seconds.

    All I want is my jobs to be fun, with unique playstyles suitable to the role of a combat medic. That's not too much to ask surely. Oh wait, SE doesn't like jobs that aren't caster dps

    I don't think I'll ever stop healing. Gives me something to do rather than just press a dull rotation. Every time I tank I largely just stand there taking hits, when I dps I just press things in a certain order. Healing keeps things dynamic since I don't know how the party will actually handle things. Stops me from being bored.

    Shadowbringers had a great story, but ultimately I got tired of how things were handled. I quit at the end of May and can only post by the good graces of the free login. Not even going to touch my healers during my brief 4 days.

    Likely beyond that I'll return again at the next free login or the next expansion. Will just have to wait and see. I'm a bit reluctant to go back to being a heal main. At least with DPS I know they'll put in effort since they get one every expansion. I don't even have a main role anymore. I bounce between various jobs.
