I concur with this. I have played MMOs for about 15 years and have never played one where you can control another player, although I've read here that SWTOR has it.
I would sooner see it removed all together, but if it is here to stay, I like the idea that some here have put forth of it dropping all existing enmity that the target has accrued, and I would take it at a step further and leave the target with reduced enmity for a short period of time. This would still allow it to be used on DPS which is not usually game breaking, but would help prevent it from being misused on a tank. The disorientation that this gives to a tank may cause a wipe anyway. Swiftcast and rez are there for a reason, although if the tank is using mitigation properly and the healer is with it, an AoE is usually not the end of the world (it's the tank's job to know which ones are deadly and which ones are not).
I'd rather rescue stays but gets fine tuned so it is more responsive.
Small story, Copied factory 1 Nin and 1 Sam, Sam used lb3 on 3rd boss I rescued to get them out of animation lock, they asked I not do that as they like seeing the full animation on their character, I go ok, 4th boss Nin lb3 I rescue and I get a thank you as they hate the animation lock that comes with it.
2 very different opinions for the same skill being used for the same thing.
It really comes down to personal preference and you hate it, clearly, but most likely tough cookies to it ever being removed, its usefulness outweighs its negatives, plenty use it for legimate means and denying a tool because people like you can't handle it happening to you and create such a huge negative reaction (like really your day is completely ruined because you got rescued once, overreacting much? Or there deeper issues in your life you need to work out?) over it.
What's next get rid of provoke because a tank can use it to cleave the party causing a wipe? Or how about tank stance because everyone loves aggro wars right?Or how about movement because troll players run into everything to grief their healers? You see the absurdity removing rescue due to this reasoning of i can't deal with it being used on me can lead to?
Hate to say it because it's true, but, Mentor status means absolutely nothing when it comes to determining if you're a good player (if anything, it appears to confirm the opposite, generally). If you preposition for mechanics and stay in healing range, you won't get Rescued by anyone, plain and simple. Therefore, it's likely that it was your own mistakes and/or lack of awareness that put you in a position where you needed to be rescued to begin with, and you need to think about why that happened in the first place. 90% of the time when a Healer Rescues someone it's because the target wasn't paying attention to where to stand, to the point of it costing the healer more energy to keep that player alive through their consistent mistakes, or simply not being able to afford a res because everyone in the party is making consistent mistakes. If the camera movement that occurs bothers you, that's different, but I'm not sure how a forced knockback or any personal dash/charge ability wouldn't trigger the same response. Even so, anyone who's actively thinking about how to use Rescue that targets you with it usually has broader reasons to do it compared to what you're seeing in that moment. If it bothers you, ask them why they did it afterward or during a jump phase, straight up. They'll usually be willing to explain it, even if derisively.
Personally, I judge whether someone needs to be Rescued on whether they're accruing Vulnerability stacks or taking unnecessary damage beforehand, and when the next oneshot mechanic comes I'm watching for that moment where I need to use it or they die, often with 5 seconds of leeway that player could've used to move. If you have trouble with this due to tunnelling on your rotation, practice your rotation on a dummy for like 3-5 min each day while you wait in a long queue so that you remove some of the rust -and- get closer to auto-piloting that part so you can focus purely on movement. And if you're not sure you can handle it still, then don't play classes that restrict your movement through melee and/or caster uptime. Bard, Dancer, and Machinist all allow you to move freely without altering your rotation in any manner, letting you adjust into the correct position to begin with.
The only time I've done it in a troll manner is when some dumb DPS early-pulls to make themselves look good on the aggro list and there's an obvious knockback mechanic coming. Or I'm with friends and they're choosing to stand in the fire. Don't stand in the fire.
I kind of feel like the troll rescues are super rare.... and agree with the responder above that if you are rescued then most likely you’ve done something wrong and should be thankful lol. It’s a mitigation tool. You can avoid being the target by doing mechanics or keeping the dungeon rolling at an acceptable pace.
I agree with OP. Getting rescued because a healer *thinks* you will die while you are actually fine to keep dpsing is irritating.
So many wise players on these forums.

No, maybe stay in healing range and stop standing in bad and people will stop using it on you.
If it happens more than once and you asked the healer to stop doing it but it fell on deaf ears, then report it and move on.
It's a very useful tool when used properly.
For the most part, I keep an eye on sprouts and if they're gonna stand in an upcoming no-no square that I'm aware is coming up.
Like LotA boss - Ancient Flare move, for example.
If someone doesn't have the sprout (or even more so, a crown) I try to leave them be, as they should know better by that point.
But still, nonetheless, it's still very useful if used properly and not for griefing folks to "go faster".
You'll get rescued, and you'll like it!
