    Assassin job (full concept & artwork)

    Hi, I'm Ceasaria Pheonixia, a player who love to make original job concepts since Stormblood. This is the concept I have put the most effort on it (with a commission from Catthy Trinh artist), I want to give it more visibility, so I have put it on Reddit too.

    So, please take a look at my Assassin job concept. If you want to have an overview, check the upper part (before the skills part) and the different combos and opener (after the skills part).

    I know it can be long to read it all and understand everything, so I want to thank you in advance for your time spent to read my work.

    Feel free to tell me your thoughts about it.

    How I see it is that there's only one 3 button combo but the third button's name and effect changes depending on which Patch stance you have up.

    Ah so like the old ninja stances then, gotcha. I thought that was an interesting concept in 2.4, but there really werent but what 2 moves that changed based on the stance at the time, so i suppose this is just bringing the system back, but using it as the basic gimmick for how the job operates, not bad. as long as the stance changes were more fluid and controllable manually, i could see this being interesting play style.

    You can have more than one dual-weapon type job in games. Thief is different since it's basically rouge, and it's nice to even cater to subtle aesthetic differences or interests. Like: Having a minstrel (support), Bard (FF14, dps, support), Songstress (hlr, crowd control), and Orchestrian Conductor (tnk, support)

    My thoughts and questions on the job:
    -I think the overall job design is good. It's like a mix of ARR-HW NIN and MNK.
    -Does an affliction's effect time reset when you add a stack?
    -Can you have all three affliction on a target or does a new affliction remove the older one?
    -Does Siren's Path's affliction just increase damage you do to the affected or does it increase all damage done onto the affected (like from other partymembers)?
    -I don't think Umbral Movement needs partymember movement effect. I think every melee-ranged job gets a gap-closer, plus it could potentially mess up some mechanics where you need to stack then spread/go to specific spots.
    -Shared Pain's description is a little confusing. Does it take away 10 affliction stacks from a target and make you invulnerable to them?

    - Yes, the time is resetted.
    - You can have the three at the same time (the goal is the have the maximum of stacks for each of them on the target).
    - Siren's Path's affliction increases damage done on the target by any source.
    - For Umbral Movement, I was very hesitating because you could move other party members accidentally yes. I wanted to be it like an original bonus, but maybe it will be not comfortable to use then. Will see what I will do about it.
    - Yeah, I tried to do Shared Pain's description in one line, but maybe I should have done a 2nd line for this. You take all the afflictions on the target, put them on you. Yes, you are invulnerable to them. Then you can put them on any enemy target of your choice. I wanted a skill which allows to not lose entirely stacks, for example passing from a boss to an add (if boss become immune). But yeah, with the cooldown of 90s, you can't do this indefinitely.

    Hope it's more understandable now ^^

    Assassin is not a FF job. That said, Thief (Rogue) and Ninja are the FF equivalents of Assassin, as evident by their historic actions: Sneak Attack/Jugulate/Trick Attack/Hide/Assassinate/Poison themed skills, etc. These 2 jobs specialize in attacking from the shadows, moving quickly, and using throwing daggers/shurikens/venoms, etc.

    Assassins were in Tactics Advanced and Tactics A2 as a job Viera could play.
    In those games, Assassins were one of the best jobs in the game, having some of the best stat growth for Vieras, access to both a melee or ranged weapon (katanas and great bows), inflict status effects, and had an auto-KO skill (granted, it had a low hit-rate but you could use abilities and buffs to make that a moot point).

    (Not to mention, things Yoshi-P have said in the past have been proven to not be 100% set in stone).
