    The email telling you to resub is a joke.

    Why would rewards that I already have be a good method of getting me to resub?

    And I thought the devs wanted us to unsub when we feel there's no content. What's this about leaving the realm defenseless? I know it's flavour but still.

    This email is so out of touch I don't even know what to say.

    I probably won't be able to answer to replies in this thread until 5.4 but I figured it's worth sharing for discussion.

    I already made a thread about veteran rewards so I don't think I need to re-explain myself.

    I don't think the purpose of this email is to beg you to return or anything. It seems to mostly be a reminder if you're maybe on the fence or don't sub and simply haven't remembered to add more game time.

    I have a very high suspicion that people who are in charge for advertisements aren't really in touch with what the actual DevTeam thinks. Folks who makes the game itself can be 100% okay with us unsubbing for time being because there are other games and all, but then there's financial department which just wants the game to make more money and so they do an advertisement that doesn't align with developer's views.

    I think Yoshida talks to the PR department, like most directors, but the rest of the team probably not, as PR isnt thier job. He cares about sales(subs) I mean its a company and its his job do what is needed to be done to get subs, sustain subs and try to 'call' people back.

    As with all PR though, certain things go unsaid and methods usrd that he or she(the director) might not agree with.

    ...I also dont know how much 'say' he has as an executive on the board.

    I guess he should talk to PR but yeah, there's that "how much power he actually has over it" question, because, I suspect, PR likely isn't under his command. So it's probably something like "hey guys, it would be nice to send a message to players to invite them back to the game after a long break", and then they do an advertisement based on that wish.

    Is this new? Is everyone getting them?

    I've only ever gotten very dry, plain-text notifications from Mog Station about upcoming or failed renewals. Maybe it's different if you're paying in a more one-off method?

    In any case, why be so offended by what is basically a generic advertisement encouraging you to buy a product? It's not like they're tailoring it for you. Literally, don't read too deeply into it.

    Because they're literally lying. Longer term subscriptions do not offer additional savings and do not unlock exclusive in-game veteran rewards more quickly because we don't have them any more.

    I think you're misunderstanding what they're saying. They aren't saying if you sub for a total of 2 years your sub time will be cheaper. They're saying if you sub in a six month increment, you will pay less than if you sub in a one month increment. On top of that, I believe if you pay for a six month chunk of time and that six months would push you over the next threshold for another veteran reward, you can claim that reward immediately, rather than when you actually hit the threshold.

    Those claims are both correct, as far as I am aware.

    As I understand it, a six-month subscription gives you the benefits of a full subscription (8 characters per world, 40 total) for the price of an entry-level subscription. That saves money if you're on a standard subscription, or gives a potential bonus if you're on an entry subscription.

    And if you haven't already earned all your veteran reward costumes, you'll receive them based on purchased sub time rather than actual time. So if it's June and you're due to receive your next reward in December, buying a six-month sub will get you "to December" and you'll get the reward immediately.

    Alright the 6-month things makes sense I suppose. I would never sub for that long without knowing what the content is going to be, but I understand that is probably what they're referring to. I do think they should be clearer about that because it's very vague unless you're aware of these packages (which I was not). I'm not even sure where you see that option.

    What veteran rewards? They've been cancelled 3 years ago and nothing has been added to replace them since. Why are they still saying I will get more?

    The last available reward tier now is at 330 Subscription Days. I have been playing this game on and off since 2013. It feels kinda insulting for them to advertise me something I know has been discontinued and that I already got years ago.

    Yeah, yeah it's not personalized. But these rewards are not ongoing, it's very misleading for them to promote a discontinued program.
