For some FCs, it's not about the cap. It's about logging in and seeing other members online playing the game instead of the FC roster showing a bunch of "last online 210+ days ago" in addition to the half dozen or so who have logged on recently. When the bulk of the roster is a bunch of players who have stopped playing, it's pretty demoralizing for the few who still are especially if they're new to the FC.

Still, FCs vary in how they handle it. Some are more tolerant of long breaks than others. Our FC gives players 6 months, longer if they keep in touch through Discord. If someone does get removed for inactivity but returns to the game later, we're happy to invite them back if they want to rejoin.

If your current FC is on the intolerant side, find one that's more tolerant. Keep in mind that might change if the FC leadership changes in the meantime.

Everyone has their own idea of what's enjoyable and there's nothing wrong with taking a break if you feel like you've run out of things to do. To stay busy I have alts, help run hunt trains and work on Expert crafting achievements. I also have other games I play on a semi-regular basis though I spend most of my time in this game. Expecting one game to be enough to satisfy all your needs is unrealistic.

OP ive been playing the game for years and years, and usually float between 1 -2 mil, because i dont do much crafting AT ALL. I can have periods where i do make over 10s of millions, on binges when i feel like it, but 1-2 mil for combat stuff is enough for me, most dailies will cover any and all repair costs for days of playing, and im not big on glamours so no gil sinks there. Others milage may vary. Theres another patch coming in December, a major patch. Maybe you should take the month off of the game and come back when theres new stuff you care about doing available?

I am also very poor in the game (have been since day one), I went from 1.5 mil (the most I've ever had) to 170k - I really should just level every gatherer including the dreaded fishing.
Farm Suzaku (Hells Kier EX). I'm constantly broke in-game as well. But I listened to a friend and forced myself to fight Suzaku all day before housing. Never rolled great on a feather but I was able to trade totems for shields and desynth them eventually to get at least 2 feathers. They didn't sell the night before housing since people were saving their gil. But the day after, they got insta-bought and I have at least 2million sitting in retainers right now. It's not much compared to gillionaires, but it's a start.

So if you have the patience to tackle one fight over and over do that one or Shinryu EX.

This is a very complex question in a game such as this. A game such as this isn't planned out like your typical Korean grinder, where you know you're going to specifically grind your life away for 8 hours in the same dungeon/raid or grinding away 1% of a level every 10 minutes. So since it's not inheritely a "job" type of game you have to go into the game with the mind that you're going to set goals for yourself and be flexible enough to help lower level friends run stuff whenever it pops up; or flexible enough to say "I ran all roulettes, instead of grinding the levels out in the level 27 dungeon I'm going to get through a good chunk of the sidequests at Kholusia." If you've already gotten through most of the game's "quests" then why not find rewards you haven't gotten yet like mounts, minions, relics, glamours in specific raids/dungeons. If you've collected all of those things I mentioned and have cleared most of the game's content (excluding savage) then I would say there's 3 options; make new alt or start new game+ to experience the game again or take a break until they add new stuff to the game. I would be surprised if you've already done most of the game's content in terms of collecting glamours, minions, mounts, done all the side quests, etc. If that kind of vanity doesn't interest you though, then that's when you know that yeah FFXIV is a game where you definitely take breaks.

Personally I've seen new people burn themselves out trying to be level 80 at every job way too quick without pausing to explore some of the game's other goodies, specially those sidequests, stuff like Hildibrand and Return to Ivalice, and things like that. You can make the goal of having every job at a 80 a long term goal but don't make it something where you see yourself farming aurum vale for 4 times just to get to level 50 (the alternative being Palace of the dead...but that place has the same effect haha). Which is fine, but most times than not that can burn you down quick.

PS. As for the money bit? If you queue as the role in need you make a hefty amount of gil just through that. As for the marketboard? Just analyze what kind of things you buy all the time and try to sell those same things by either gathering or crafting them. Just have to pay attention to what seems to sell very quick.

Open the achievements window and go through every category, one by one. If you see an achievement you'd like to complete, whether it's for the reward or the satisfaction for having done it, right click on it and add it to your Watchlist. Almost everything in the game has achievements associated with it.

Now you have 30 new things to do.
